This movie has its good parts and its bad parts. The actors do a great job but the story line is just weird to me. You have a mother and son who go to town to town and suck the life out of young girls (they always live a rose on the girls). Then they come to a new town and the girl they pick fights them back. Cats don't like the mother/son either. I just found the story line confusing at times and not up to par like most Stephen King movies. I just think so much more could have been done to make this a good movie.
I remember seeing this movie when it came out on video in the late 80's or early 90's. I saw Stephen King in the title and I wanted to watch it. It's a little bizarre, and makes you wonder what the heck is going on in King's head, but that's what makes this story original. It's not what you'd expect from anyone else but Stephen King.
It's about a son and mother who are either the last or close to the last of the Sleepwalkers. They feed on virgin female humans by facing them and drawing out their lifeforce. Charles, the son, befriends a beautiful young female, Tanya, and eventually tries to feed on her; yet you think that he really likes this girl, so he doesn't want to do it. But when he is given the opportunity to feed on her, he takes it, and then chaos kind of breaks loose and the movie takes a few turns. Charles and his mother try to stay under the radar of their surrounding community, but that isn't quite how it works out for them. They're found out by people here and there, and they have to kill them before more people find out. And somehow cats play into their lives. Cats hate the Sleepwalkers and can be deadly to them, so Charles and his mother have to try to avoid being in contact with cats as well.
Sleepwalkers isn't my favorite Stephen King movie, but it definitely is unique. If you've already seen it, you probably like it. If you haven't seen it, I definitely recommend watching it, especially if you like vampire movies. There are some similarities between vampires and Sleepwalkers, and I think this movie fits well into that genre. It's a good original (even sometimes bizarre with Charles having sex with his mother) movie that could have only come from the twisted mind of Stephen King.
(BRIAN KRAUSE) AND (ALICE KRIGE) STAR IN THIS TERRIFYING TALE OF MODERN-DAY VAMPIRES WHO PREY ON VIRTOUS YOUNG WOMEN. (MADCHEN AMICK) IS THE SEXUALLY CURIOUS VIRGIN WHO FALLS FOR THE NEW BOY IN SCHOOL, ONLY TO LEARN TOO LATE THAT HE'S A LIFE-SUCKING SLEEPWALKER. MUTATING AT WILL FROM GOLDEN BOY TO SAVAGE MONSTER, (KRAUSE) STALKS (AMICK) TO FEED HIS SEDUCTIVE MOTHER. AS THE TENSION MOUNTS (AND THE CASUALTIES PILE UP), THE TOWN'S TABBIES GATHER FOR A FINAL, CHILLING SHOWDOWN WITH THE MONSTERS IN THEIR MIDST-AND WE ALL KNOW IT'S NOT NICE TO HURT PEOPLE'S FELINES...WITH CAMEO APPEARANCES BY STEPHEN KING AND CLIVE BARKER,STEPHEN'S KING'S SLEEPWALKERS IS "SEXY, SLEEK AND HORRIFYINGLY SCARY. THE MOST FRIGHTENING STEPHEN KING MOVIE YET'!
One of the masters of horror's best. Stephen King takes you to the world of Sleepwalkers. A story of cat-atonic perportions. Watch as a not so normal son, Charles tries to help feed and heal his monther.
You will be on the edge of your seat for most of this movie.
Highly recommended.
Of course I love anything Stephen King, and if you like modern day vampires who prey on young women. A young women who falls in love with a young man only to find out too late he's a " life-sucking sleepwalker ". Mutating at will from a nice looking young man to a savage beast, stalking to feed his sedutive mother as well. And once again there's that fnal showdown. Once again a cameo appearances that always makes the movie-where is he going to show up,but Stephen King himself.
