There is no doubt that this lens is heavy but what do you expect. It takes great pictures if you do your part. In spite of what many have written it does need a tripod above 350-400mm. If shooting a 1/500 second I can hand hold a 500mm and get acceptable prints but it must be very bright to do this. You can't get a better value in a 500mm lens than the "Bigma"!
so far this lens has lived up to all the other reviews I have read. At first site it is impressively big, well built, and looks like it will be a load on the trail!

I will be posting some soon.
The range of lens is good for an amateur photographer. The problem is with auto-focus. The lens hunts for focus.
