Editorial reviews

"SHREK FOREVER AFTER continues the series' tradition of embellishing its central story with a plethora of sight gags, snarky little asides rooted in fairy-tale revisionism and terrific vocal performances by Murphy and Banderas. They're both hilarious..."
Variety - John Anderson (04/22/2010)

"The 3D effects are undeniably impressive....The estimable voice talents have their acts down cold, with each one again providing invaluable contributions..."
Hollywood Reporter - Frank Scheck (04/21/2010)

4.5 stars out of 5 -- "Hilarious and heartfelt from start to finish, this is the best SHREK of them all, and that's no fairy tale. Borrowing liberally from Frank Capra's IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE, this edition blends big laughs and emotion..."
Box Office - Pete Hammond (05/05/2010)

"What fortifies SHREK FOREVER AFTER are its brilliantly realized principal characters, who nearly a decade after the first SHREK film remain as vital and engaging fusions of image, personality and voice as any characters in the history of animation."
New York Times - Stephen Holden (05/19/2010)

"[Fiona is] voiced appealingly as before by Cameron Diaz....[With] toy-like landscapes rendered in enchanting colors..."
Wall Street Journal (05/21/2010)

"[T]his one is in 3-D -- the real deal, not a retrofit -- that makes the action pop....It's a fun ride."
Rolling Stone - Peter Travers (05/27/2010)

3 stars out of 4 -- "[T]his SHREK brings the cycle of fairy-tale-themed films to a fine finish....Among the new characters, Rumpelstiltskin makes for a perfect villain."
Washington Post (05/21/2010)

"FOREVER AFTER comes back with more heart and much of the kick-in-the-pop-culture-keister cleverness that made the greenish brute such a breath of fresh air when SHREK first blew into town nearly a decade ago."
Los Angeles Times - Betsy Sharkey (05/21/2010)

"[T]he franchise provides an apt farewell in SHREK FOREVER AFTER....It may also produce the first twinge of nostalgia in the kids who thrilled to the original at a formative age."
Movieline - Michelle Orange (05/20/2010)

4 stars out of 5 -- "DreamWorks could be entering a period of fresh creativity....[A] balanced, darker-hued and very funny Shrek finale..."
Empire - James White (06/25/2010)

"The film does a good job of establishing its adventure-film stakes....The battles in Rumplestiltskin's castle are lively and well mounted, especially in 3D."
Sight and Sound - Andrew Osmond (08/01/2010)

Review For: Shrek Forever After (DVD, 2010)

Billed as the final movie in the Shrek series. Shrek Forever After finds Shrek (Mike Myers) finding his life at home to be less than exciting. He dreams of the days when he was a real Ogre. He meets up with Rumpelstiltskin (Walt Dohrn) who promises to give him one day of life as it used to be, in exchange, Shrek must give him one day. Shrek agrees and soon finds out that he was tricked and must figure out how to get his life back.

This is (in my opinion) the best of the Shrek movies. There are so many laughs in this one that it was difficult to follow the movie. The writers out did themselves with funny comments, faces of the characters and action.

You difinately do not want to miss this one.

The cast of this movie are: Main Cast: Mike Myers as Shrek, Eddie Murphy as Donkey, Cameron Diaz as Princess Fiona, Antonio Banderas as Puss in Boots, Walt Dohrn as Rumpelstiltskin, Conrad Vernon as Gingy (Gingerbread Man), Aron Warner as Big Bad Wolf, Christopher Knights as Three Blind Mice, Cody Cameron as Pinocchio, Three Little Pigs, Julie Andrews as Queen Lillian.
Supporting Cast: Jon Hamm as Brogan the Ogre, Craig Robinson as Cookie the Ogre, Jane Lynch as Gretched the Ogre, John Cleese as King Harold, Chris Miller as Magic Mirror, Mr. Geppetto, Kristen Schaal as Pumpkin Witch, Palace Witch, Mary Kay Place as Guard Witch, Meredith Vieira as Broomsy Witch, Kathy Griffin as Taran, Lake Bell as Patrol Witch, Wagon Witch #2, Jeremy Steig as Pied Piper, Regis Philbin as Mabel the Ugly Stepsister, Ryan Seacrest as Butter Pants' father., Mike Mitchell as Butter Pants, and Justin Timberlake as Arthur Pendragon.

Least favorite of the four films

Review For: Shrek Forever After (DVD, 2010)

Not hard to remember 2001 when the original "Shrek" came out. It beat my favorite Disney/Pixar film "Monsters Inc" for the 1st Best Animated Film Oscar.

An original idea and funny. The 2cd film was very good, not quite as good as the original.

The 3rd film was NOT anywhere near as good as the first two films. The Arthur character & how it was written.

So, we get to this film. Supposed to be the last "Shrek" film That will remain to be seen.

NOT an original idea seeing what would happen if. That has surely been done before, so the character see how good they have it after complaining about it.

I say this for positive, I thought the film would be worse. Just the laughs are far between. . Notice the Arthur character they brought in for the 3rd film is NOT EVEN TALKED ABOUT HERE. Took a while to get to any good Donkey or Puss scenes.

The funny side characters from the first three films were barely used. Minor Pinocchio, Dragon, Gingy, etc.

OK, THEY STOLE THE END OF "BEAUTY & THE BEAST". Spoiler, the kiss.

A few extras on here. DVD DESIGNED YOU ARE FORCED TO WATCH PREVIEWS INSIDE OF GOING TO THE MENU.

A few extras.

NO chapter search list & a major complaint that you see more & more of. Has one of these cheap, INTENTIONAL HOLES IN THE DVD PLASTIC CASE. I HATE these things. Terrible, cheap & your DVD can get damaged.

Just so you have to buy another & they make more money.

To sum up. This film is the worst of the four films. It is watchable BUT no where close to the original 2001 film.

Must Own for the Shrek fan at a magnificent price !

Review For: Shrek Forever After (DVD, 2010)

For fans of the Shrek Saga, they will find themselves rooting for Shrek after he makes a deal (which goes horribly wrong) with the sinister Rumplestiltskin. More of the faery tale madcap adventures are involved, and those of us who have read or seen Faust will understand the 'selling one's soul to the devil' references. This ties up all the loose ends and has some hysterical moments with Donkey and Puss, who really steal the show in the final volume. It's very touching and heartfelt but not for littler kids who may not understand why Fiona is acting the way she is in this version. This is a fitting end to a marvelous story with good morals and values.

Shrek Forever After(DVD,2010)

Review For: Shrek Forever After (DVD, 2010)

I've really enjoyed all of the Shrek movies. They're very entertaining & the animation is amazing! The Characters & Cast are great,& seem so real!!!I knew that Shrek forever after would be another good movie as well, and I knew I wanted to own it to watch whenever I want to. I admit it does have it's disadvantages & nothing is perfect but I loved it!!!"Donkey"(Eddie Murphey)is hillarious!!!Shrek movies are the kind that everybody loves(not just the kids),but the whole family. It's just a must-see movie to me!!!

No, I would not recommend this product.

It's been a couple of weeks since I watched this with wifey, but finally here is my mini review.

It was average.

There you go.

Oh, you want more? Okay....

It felt like Dreamworks took all of the main characters from the "Shrek" movies (Shrek, Fiona, Donkey and Puss) and put them in a non Shrek movie. Gingerbread man, The Three Pigs, Pinocchio and the other supporting characters were given barely cameos in this film and lets remember it is the full ensemble cast of the previous movies that makes "far far away" so much fun. In "Forever After", Shrek gets taken from his real life and put in an alternative version where nobody knows who he is. The movie is okay, no great shakes, sure it has some laughs, but I get the feeling the jokes have been told before.... (look at Puss and his big eyes!)

Kids will still love it, but the extra charm that made the film so much fun for adults too seems to be lacking in the fourth (and hopefully final) installment.
