Saw Is Terror Made With Genius
Created: 11/05/06
Saw isn't the hardcore gore-shocker you may be imagining. But make no mistake, this movie will have you in its terrifying grip from the beginning, and by the end the suspense will have you sticking to the ceiling.
Plot Summary: A serial killer known only as Jigsaw has captured two victims, Dr. Gordon and Adam, and chained them to a crusty, long abandoned washroom in an unknown location. The only way out of the chains on their ankles is, well, none, except to use the saws Jigsaw has provided on their own feet. But even if they did the unthinkable, they'd still be locked in a room with a bloody corpse. There's only one answer, and that is to play by Jigsaw's rules: in order to get out alive, Gordon must kill Adam within six hours. What happens leads to the most mind-blowing movie ending I can remember.
The Real Scoop: This movie is as much for movie fans as it is for horror fans. The R rating keeps it within the spectrum of images that most people can handle. In other words, if you are like I was, afraid that the gore would simply be too sick and not worth watching, you'll probably discover otherwise. The suspense is far more intense than the gore. Also, contrary to what I believed about the movie before I saw it, the room that Gordon and Adam are locked in is not the only location visited.
Saw is a superbly crafted thriller with meaningful and human dialog and story elements. It's no mindless slasher, nor is it an empty exploration of torture and killing. An actual story is unfolding with every minute of screen time. It's one of the most original and interesting movies to come along in a very long time, and it's genuinely scary. And heck, as all good art should, it even affirms life.
Jigsaw's presence and the implications of his malice are felt throughout the movie, though we see very little of him. The writers have done a fantastic job of creating a terrifying killer, and an original character. Jigsaw's plots are interesting as they pit ordinary people against themselves, their fears, and against each other. Everything hinges on the cruel reality he has placed in front of his victims: "Make your choice: live or die."
Simplicity is everything in Saw. The filmmakers have created a super-thriller with everything moviegoers come to a theater for, and the perhaps the biggest surprise is they've done it on a shoestring budget. As a bonus, without sacrificing anything in the art, the movie is easy to follow.
Look at the average rating for this movie; it's high for a reason. You will leave this movie terrified. But like a dark thrill ride, you won't regret spending your money on it.

A Masterpiece!!!

SAW is A Masterpiece!!!
One of the greatest Horror Movies of All-Time
SAW is spectacular. The music, the atmosphere, the flashbacks, and Jigsaws voice. Everything about this movie will have your skin crawling and your blood boiling.
SAW I is by far the creepiest film in the trilogy, and for a film that was shot over 18 days with no rehearsal time for the actors, this film delivers.
SAW offers up a brilliant cast featuring the likes of Cary Elwes, Danny Glover, Dina Meyer, Michael Emerson, Tobin Bell, Monica Potter, Shawnee Smith, and Writer/Director Leigh Whannell.
SAW offers constant tension from the very get go. It had me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. It's hard to explain how incredible this film is without just saying you MUST SEE IT.
SAW sets the bar very high for future horror films, mainly due to the fact that it was filmed on such a small budget. Because of this Director James Wan took a major gamble and decided to work for free, and take a percentage of the profits.
Final Verdict:
6/5
Rent or Buy?: I gave it a 6 out of 5. Buying this movie is the only way to go. SAW is the movie Horror fans have been waiting for. Do yourself a favor, pick up your copy today!!!

SAW is a must for horror freaks.

I bought this Saw movie to build up my Saw Collection.I still need to get Saw V. SAW is a gristle-cut B psycho thriller that would like to tap the sickest corners of your imagination. SAW is gripping exploitation, laughing off claims to seriousness while giving its audience a more pungent ride than recent mainstream offerings.
