This TV was purchased as a replacement for a 13 year old 27" TV that finally called it quits. This TV is primarily used in the mornings for the kids to watch cartoons and sometimes we watch the news in the evenings. We also have a DVD player, Nintendo and Playstation hooked up to it. We have a 61" RCA HDTV in our family room and have gotten used to digital TV over the last 3 years. Its nice now to have the HDTV upstairs as well. We were mentioning the other day that this TV is almost as good as the DLP we have downstairs. The colors are bright and the picture is sharp, whether we are watching digital or analog TV, or watching a DVD or playing a video game. Love the buttons on the side of the TV screen where our 1 yr. old can't find them!! Some drawbacks are: only 1 set of composite jacks on back for hooking up video game/VCR/DVD, the other jacks are component jacks (Y, Pb, Pr) so we had to buy some splitters and new cables to hook up our older video game systems and DVD player together. Also has less options in the menu for tuning channels and controlling brightness, contrast, etc. You have to go through all the stations/inputs when pushing the channel up/down buttons. It goes from your digital TV stations right into the analog, then your inputs 1, 2 3 before going back to your digital stations again. These are the only reasons I am rating this is a 4. All in all, this is a great TV at a great price!!
This was my first lcd hdtv buy and to tell the truth i bought it because it was on special for 399.99 at Conns in Houston. I saw the same tv at Walmart for 549 so i thought it was a great deal. I got home and i was not impressed with the picture quality. There is alot of pixelation. It shows stuff like the news and cartoons real nice butt if you get into a action packed movie, dark movies, the lcd pixelates. the 25 ms response time is probably the main reason. the sound is great though, and that it has an hdmi input, i havent seen it with the hd quality yet so i doint know how well the picture looks with hdtv. I probably would exchange it for a tv with at least a 12 ms response time or better but there is no way i ca find a better lcd hdtv for less than 500.
The TV for a lower line HDTV does very well, the blacks tend to be a bit overwhelming and make some programs difficult to see well. It is however only a 500.00 TV so you get what you pay for.
The picture in the HD is still quite good and cartoons look amazing.
I would recomend this tv if you dont want to spend 2000.00 bucks first time out.
If you want a HDTV for your kids room this is the one you should buy.
I bought this Sanyo LCD TV on Ebay to replace an old 25'' Sanyo that had lasted for over 13 years, but this new 26'' model does not have the overall clarity that I thought it would, being that it is a high definition TV.
The blacks are so dark that you cannot see the detail of patterns on most channels.
There is a lot of pixelation on the channels, although the colors are very vibrant.
However, animated cartoon programs look great, so if you have a little one this would make a fantastic TV set for them.
Also the set is very light to carry, so to move it about would be no problem.
It does have multiple inputs and outputs, although no computer VGA inputs.
If you are on a budget this might be a good purchase.
this Sanyo TV is like the little engine that could...it is not as popular brand name as LG, Vizio or Sony... this tv was not expected to do what the other giant brand name could do... BUT IT DOES comparatively and much more! I'm surprised, too.
