Sanford and Son - The Complete Series (DVD, 2008, 17-Di

Redd Foxx is SANFORD AND the SON is Lamonte. They act as father and son in this funny show where they own a junk yard and are always trying to get money and come up fast and thinking of ways to get rich on the fly, but their get rich quick schemes only end up getting them into more trouble and more in debt. Its funny because they are in constant comical disagreement and argueing with eachother about any and everything imaginable. I think its Sanfords sarcasticness is what makes this show so funny. Like whenever Lamonte threatens to leave the business, Sanford will say he is having a heart attack to make Lamonte change his mind and stay. I believe this show aired for about 4 - 6 years. Its a good comedy show I enjoyed as I was growing up.

Perfect Title

Who does not like this classic series of Sanford and Son? The title is perfect as the weekly series featured Sanford and his adult son's life together. Their experiences, arguments, as well as their hilarious, happy and sad moments together are unforgettable and touching to see. It keeps you laughing and wanting more. That is why having the complete series is better than just getting one or more episodes. You will want to keep seeing what is next, from beginning to end. The other characters on the show brings life to the series too, such as Aunt Ester and a host of friends and visiting relatives. Can you imagine the situations the widowed Sanford and his adult single son get themselves into? Their conflicts and jealousies when wanting to date at home? The differences they have with Aunt Ester - the very religious and judgmental one? And that Sanford, has a way with words - and those words can be....well, if you have not seen Sanford and Son, I highly recommend that you do and get the complete series. You won't be disappointed if you want entertainment, laughter and a feel good family comedy. From time to time, episodes of Sanford and Son may come on a special TV presentation; however, having your own complete series guarantees your being able to view this wonderful comedy as often as you like. There is nothing that I did not like about Sanford and Son. It is a perfect comedy - guaranteed to make you laugh uncontrollably!

Sanford & Son Disc Set - Set for Fun

I loved the show growing up. This was during the time TV comedy was treading into unknown territory. Cutting its teeth with new commercially successful shows. I know, I know what about I Love Lucy, The Honey Honeymooners, Andy Griffin and others.
Sanford and Son tackled the mostly unknown ghetto style live that most black Americans at the time was living with. The story lines didn't get into what was 'politically correct' at the time but lightly tip toed through the hilariously funny jokes and gags.
This is one of the few older sitcoms that you never tire watching. I still to this day use some of the material in everyday dealings with people and people think its funny.
I wish Redd could have stayed around to enjoy his come back that was happening to his career at the end. I guess Elizabeth was calling him home for real that time.
RIP Mr. Foxx

One of television's greatest comedies!

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

"Sanford And Son" is an American situation comedy that premiered on the NBC television network on January 14, 1972, and was broadcast for six seasons. The final original episode aired on March 25, 1977. The show is based on the BBC sitcom "Steptoe And Son". A hit with audiences and critics alike, it is the classic sitcom starring the outrageous comic genius Redd Foxx. A ratings smash, the show recieved a 1973 Golden Globe award for Foxx (Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series, Musical or Comedy). South Central L.A. junk dealer Fred Sanford (Foxx) and his prtner-in-grime, son Lamont (Demond Wilson) are constantly struggling to make ends meet; but Fred always has just one more get-rich-quick scheme up his sleeve, sometimes involving best friend Grady Wilson (Whitman Mayo). When he's not haggling over hi empire of junk, he's sparring with his sister-in-law, the cantankerous, Bible-thumping Aunt Esther (LaWanda Page). Other charaters on the show include Bubba (Don Bexley), Rollo Lawson (Nathaniel Taylor), Donna Harris (Lunn Hamilton), Julio Fuentes (Gregory Sierra), Ah Chew (Pat Morita), and police oficers "Smitty" Smith (Hal Williams), "Hoppy" Hopkins (Howard Platt) and "Swanny" Swanhauser (Noam Pitlik). The series was a ratings smash during its six-year run, becoming the most-watched NBC program on Friday nights. And, who could ever forget that memorable theme music composed by Quincy Jones? Now, all 136 episodes from all six seasons are gathered together in this handy boxed set, collected onto 17 DVDs. With a superior remastered video picture and audio track, the show is still as funny after 40 years. Nothing can get you out of the dumps like watching the hilarious exploits of Fred Sanford!

Classic Comedy

Sanford and Son is by far one of if not THE best comedy series of all time. I like EVERYTHING about the series... there's really nothing that I didn't like. There was a period that Redd Foxx left the show, and Grady and Lamont carried the show until Redd's return.

I love the fct that the series was combined into one package... great idea for a GREAT series.
