The Samsung Impression has a brilliant touch screen, a roomy keyboard, and an intuitive design. It offers a functional midrange feature set and admirable multimedia performance and call quality.
The Samsung Impression has a proprietary headset jack, the camera lacks a flash, and keyboard shortcuts are few. Also, it lacks voice dialing and the promised battery life is rather short.
The Samsung Impression isn't perfect, but it ranks high on our list as a messaging and multimedia phone.

The Impression gave me a very bright and detailed display, and good call quality, on par if not better than an iPhone, using my son's iPhone 3GS in comparison. Web experience was good, but not as intuitive as an iPhone.
The qwerty keyboard was good for it's size, and texting was smooth and concise. The built-in camera was good for it's resolution, but lacks a flash for darker environments. On-board photo editing was basic but good, and gave nice images.
The Impression's phone menu and features were at best, not very intuitive and difficult to navigate for the first time user; learning curve for it's use is quite steep. If you commit to this phone be prepared to spend some time learning your way around it's use. Other than that, it's a nice business person's phone.
If call quality, texting and photos are important first, and web experience is less important, this is a good phone at this price point.
But don't expect an iPhone experience.
This phone is really nice,
i do dislike the fact that messaging is not in threads, and you can only send a message to ten contacts at once.
i also wish it had a headphone jack.
It's held up really well, and i've been known to destroy phones so that's saying something.
the keyboard is nice and roomy, however it is a bit slow to respond when you are sending long messages.
i am very quick and find i often have to stop and wait for the phone to catch up.
however, i really do love this phone, i definitely recommend it.
oh, battery life leaves something to be desired, dont recommend leaving it on vibrate all day unless you want to charge it more than once a day.
has a quick go to button on the side with shortcuts to messaging, web browser, and music player from any screen in the phone. i really like that.
all in all a great phone.
The Samsung Impression is really impressive in all aspects. You would be highly impressed to know that the phone provides you the best of communication features in conjunction with an attractive look and the most updated facilities.
The Samsung Impression can also be referred to as the first phone on the US market with a screen utilizing the phenomenal organic, light-emitting diodes. The OLEDs are known to emit their own light as compared to filtering a fluorescent backlight such as LCDs. This makes them a great battery life saver and also provide enhanced image quality.
The Samsung Impression is available with a 3.2 inch touch screen capable of displaying saturated colors as well as dark blacks. The slide-out QWERTY keyboard is a treat to users.
The 3 megapixel camera module allows you to provide excellent opportunity to take pictures whenever and wherever you want.
Other features of this phone include an mp3 player that is capable of playing Real audio, polyphonic ringtones, lithium ion battery, dynamic web browsers, AT&T’s cellular video service, Bluetooth, slider form factor and QWERTY keyboard. However, what really set this phone apart is the AMOLED (active-matrix organic light-emitting diode) screen. This screen allows users to enjoy large size and higher resolution displays possible.
This phone looks good from first sight. I like the size, and the feel of the phone. When it is turned on, it is beautiful to look at. Colors are pure, and clear. Pictures are just what you see. The features are helpful and you do not have to spend all day reading about the phone to nagigate through it. I really like my phone, and am very happy with it's purchase. Oh yeah, and I phoned Samsung right away to register my product so that I could start my one year warranty with the phone and their customer service people were extremely polite and helpful. Hope this helps you also.
UPDATE... Veterans Day November 11th, 2010. Hi. I just want you to know that I live on a Big Ranch and to make a long story short...this phone takes alot of exposure to "Ranch type living". It STILL WORKS FANTASTICALLY!!! Absolutely perfect for a cell phone. I updated this phone with a 16GB memory card and it is just as good as the I-phone (course to me, better). Sure hope this helps you in making your choice for cell phones easier!
When I was searching for a new phone, I was interested in specific qualities:
Size of the QWERTY keyboard buttons (not too small)
Ease of use
Excellent photo quality
The buttons are large enough to see and small enough for my small fingers. Downside--the buttons are not all easy to push; sometimes have to retry. One button I do take issue with is the lock button on the side. It is very troublesome to depress and if one doesn't relock it, the phone has a tendency to place its own calls.
I've been able to use the phone without reading the manual cover to cover and memorizing it. Sometimes I do need to flip through settings and tools to find a specific feature.
Pictures taken through this phone have excellent color and definition--plus side is that one may record at the same time for video creation.
The price was great!
I do have text and data package, so I spend a lot of time on Ebay, Facebook, and just online in general. Quick loads. It would be helpful if bookmarks were easier to find!
Not had the problems with battery mentioned elsewhere, but it has gone green screen on me twice whilst charging. This was disconcerting the first time! Luckily, all one needs to do is pop the battery out and reinsert it.
All in all, I love this phone.
