The Samsung Impression has a brilliant touch screen, a roomy keyboard, and an intuitive design. It offers a functional midrange feature set and admirable multimedia performance and call quality.
The Samsung Impression has a proprietary headset jack, the camera lacks a flash, and keyboard shortcuts are few. Also, it lacks voice dialing and the promised battery life is rather short.
The Samsung Impression isn't perfect, but it ranks high on our list as a messaging and multimedia phone.

Things I really like about this Samsung Impression.
1) Really user friendly! The menu items is decently clear & simple to understand. I never have problems with how to use the camera, MP3, and brousing folders etc.
2) A really GREAT part: It accepts huge memory cards! 16 gigs! And can access cards without having to remove batteries!
3) The 3mp camera is good! As long as its in the day! And the video camera is not bad! Although the quality of video is sim to those analog VHS camcorders. BUT hey, I don't care. It SO nice to have a video camera on me 24/7 sort of speak (THAT'S what good), not to mention: Videotape in places I CANT bring a camcorder in! On OTHER phones I had, I would not bother with the videos. They're to low of quality.
4) Although I DON'T USE IT. It has a nice size "Qwerty" keyboard. That slides open. NOT tiny like the blackberrys
5) Nice size display.
NOW FOR THE THING I HATE/DISLIKE!
1) Too BIG! Its hard to fit in pocket. And it can get cumbersome while putting in pocket. And when sitting down (driving). The buttons tend to get press accidently.
2) I get ANNOYED when I want to use phone, and find out Im holding it upside down! I ALWAYS get confused cause the phone looks the SAME on top & bottom! Press the wrong buttons many times (thinking I holding it on correct side)!
3) What even more annoying! When I want to lock/unlock keypad. Or use the camera button, I loose grip of phone while pressing those buttons, BECAUSE it wants to slide open as I press buttons! Because I HAVE to hold the bottom of phone while pressing buttons DROPPED phone many times because of this!
4)Need that ADAPTOR to use an earphone or connect MP3 player to car radio etc. I leave it at home, NO MUSIC for me! Really hate that!
5) Touch screen feature: Sometimes it does not work accurately and dependibly. Also DONT like the idea that I CANT "override" the touch screen by using the keyboard or buttons.
6) Volume is WAY TO LOW (speakerphone)! Whats UP wit that? Might as well put the speakerphone at my ear!!!
7) really don't like the MP3 player that much. Its harder to use than some phone I had before.
8) The OVERALL technology is only SLIGHTLY advanced than phones of several years ago!
So overall I can give a rating of 6.5 out of 10. Basically the biggest offender probably being the BIG cumbersome size. Plus the adaptor needed to use MP3 player. Plus the touch screen is not alway reliable!
BUT comparing it to the Blackberry Curve I had before this phone.
Its EASIER to use. The camera section was better, BUT not THAT much though! Impression LOOK more "prettier" for the bright vivid colors and screen display. NICE! And the huge memory card cap. 16gb!
On the Blackberry. The MP3 player was better off! Sounded great! And that 3.5mm earphone jack! Plus more reliable buttons instead of "not always reliable" touch screen.
So overall what I have to say about Impression. The only real good about it is the huge memory card capacity! And that's IT though! The technology on this phone overall is NOT THAT MUCH better from the models of 2-3 years before this one. Like an example. The typical camera is 2mp on many phones from several yrs ago. THis phone being a 2009 model. The camera is just slightly better and STILL dont have a flash
I can't be too specific about this phone, since this is my first smartphone, let alone my first with a touch screen and a qwerty keyboard. But using it has been an easy learning curve. I don't even have a data plan, so I can't comment on that(otherwise, I would have given this an Excellent rating), but the included widgets are handy. However, I do not like that the charge and earphone connection use the same proprietary jack. I wish it had the typical 3.5mm jack, instead. Touch screen and keyboard can be touchy for those of us that are fat fingered. For alot of that, I do wish it also had come with a stylus, but for what it cost, I can't complain
I come from using an LG KM500, so my review isn't as 'professional' as other cell phone users, because I don't change phones every 3rd month. I prefer to use mine beyond it's effective usefulness. So, in looking for my next phone, I wanted something more, but didn't want an iphone, nor did I want to be forced to purchase a data plan, just to use a phone. This Samsung fit the bill, perfectly
Phone was easily unlocked thru AT&T's customer service, but I'm having difficulty getting it set to T-mobile's MMS settings, otherwise, it works great. I won't continually buy the screen protectors, so I just use a strip of packing tape. Works great. And the folks I bought this from were very expedient with shipping. I've added the name to my favorites list
Battery life could be better. It's not bad, and will last a few days on a charge, so long as I stay off massive use, and the bluetooth. Otherwise, I plan on charging every other day. I wish there was an extended-life battery available for this. Maybe there is, but I haven't found it. And even if there were, then it wouldn't fit the holster, or any other clip-on protective case. Micro SD card slot is accessed beneath the SIM card slot, under the battery cover, but next to the battery, and not all underneath the battery. Wallpapers are easily customizable, and all images are brightly lit (as well as adjustable), thanks to the OLED's
Overall, I really like this phone, and will base all future phone purchases, off this one
Yea I could spew off a couple numbers, or worse I could do an ATT monologue. I'd rather tell you what this phone DOES! This phone is the best phone I've ever owned. The touchscreen is quick to respond, the qwerty keyboard has MUCH bigger keys then most others out there (no double bumping). It seems to have a stronger antenna then most because now I get reception in places that I didn't before. It has huge storage for texts, music, games and the like. All of the applications seem simpler. You can set an alarm, or a calender event, or bluetooth with one touch. Soo simple when you can touch and go and put your attention where you need it to be - faster. It can arrange your texts and contacts in any number of order, and never has frozen on me (which for awhile there, seemed characteristic of ATT phones). This Phone really can handle what you throw a it. Don't let this camera fool, its powerful, and sharp. Games and gps, etc. load incredibly faster than any other phone I've had.
Ok now you had to know it was coming, the quirks. Thankfully for this phone there's not much. Sometimes (and I mean once in a GOOD while) the texting takes a second to catch up. Now it could be because mine was a Refurb but who knows, not really bothersome, maybe I just type fast. There also is no hook up except to charge and headphones. Kinda a bummer if you wanna toss on all the music you already have. Also no memory slot. Now I know I said that this thing's a beast with storage and it is, I just like to have my music come and go as I like (easier to edit). Headphone jack is still the Samsung specialty jack, doesn't seem like their changing it anytime soon. But the go pretty cheap and easy on ebay.
One thing I can't review is the internet connection, don't have it. Sorry I know thats a biggie for most of you but you'll have to check and see. Good luck, this phone is awesome!
very impressive texting cannot get any easier. I brought it because I wanted it bad. The Samsung Impression has a brilliant touch screen, a roomy keyboard, and an intuitive design. It offers a functional midrange feature set and admirable multimedia performance and call quality
