The compact Samsung Solstice II has well-rounded features, a responsive touch screen, and good photo quality from its 2-megapixel camera.
Samsung's Solstice II has a cheap-feeling chassis, the microSD card slot is located inconveniently behind the back cover, and there's no dedicated headphone jack.
The Samsung Solstice II is a solid midrange touch-screen feature phone that offers good value if you can look past a few inconveniences and variable call quality.

All in all it's just an ok phone for everyday use.
Bought this in October 2010, about 1 year after if was released. It is an Android smartphone, running android 1.5, a 528mhz processor with 288mg of memory and an AMOLED screen. Many original owners were angry with Samsung that the promise of an upgrade to android 2.1 was not delivered. That being said, this is a well made, high quality phone. It is solidly built and generally runs apps quickly with little to no lag. The Samsung cube interface called "touch wiz" is utterly worthless and gimmicky and runs a top the android operating system. This phone was transitional for samsung, from feature phones with proprietary operating systems to android and it appears that Samsung had a lot of difficulty giving up their touchwiz proprietary feature phone system and tacked it onto android. In any case, TOuch wiz is a waste of processor and memory and probably why they couldn't upgrade the android 1.5 base. The phone is worth the money as is, and a great entry into android and smartphones at this time.
A decent almost smart phone. The built-in apps. are handy and pretty simple to use. The user interface is also intuitive. I like the touch screen, brightness, audio, photos. Size is great - very small. My wife is using this mostly for texting and calling, so we don't have an data package - perfectly fine for her use.
What needs improvment - accepting a call - need to press the button down for a long time before it responds. This phone is an AT&T phone - we use T-Mobile. For text and calling, it's just fine, but the built-in AT&T specific apps. don't work. No biggie. Just sayin.
Overall, I would recommend it for somebody that wants somethine light, small, simple to use, a few good apps. and a smarter phone than just some buttons to dial.
Phone's slim design is great. good quality; sensitive, functional, good camera, but quick battery draining (last barely a day)
Comes with Android OS 1.5; Samsung declared to provide updates up to Android 2.x; however, later they changed mind to only provide update of Android 1.6.
Otherwise, the phone is great and I'll rate it 7.5/10 with limited update.
I was purchasing this phone with a little skepticism after reading some bad reviews. After using the phone for about 2 weeks now I have to disagree with just about every negative statement I read about the phone. However, I do not use a data plan at all and do not use the phone for browsing at all, possibly will start since it does have the WiFi capability so i can browse for free. The first time I charged the phone friday night and battery did not run out till the following thursday (I do not use the phone a lot I guess but for me its a great battery life) Phone works fast enough for everything I need to do. I heard a lot of people complaining about the inability to uninstall the apps which supposedly slow down the phone. I very quickly found an option on the phone to uninstall any and all apps that you want to remove, just like the uninstall utility on the PC. The camera takes amazing pictures for a cell phone camera. I have not tried connecting the phone to a PC yes to confirm the problem with Windows 7 not recognizing it but I am sure its the inability of the user to find a solution. I am positive that I will be able to do so but in worst case scenario I will use my Vista laptop if I need to connect.
