Working-man's phone. Basic, but TOUGH.

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

Most durable phone on the market. Short on features, not great with internet, no touch screen, but you can drop it, get it wet, drive over it, and the sucker keeps on working. Good speakerphone for us deaf people. Bluetooth gives it a pinch of sophistication. All in all, a good functional working-man's phone, well worth the price.

Great Value, extremely durable but has a few minor drawbacks.

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

This phone is a great, economical replacement phone that can take a little more damage than your average phone. The phones durability is the key feature that differentiates this phone from others. The disadvantage to this phone compared to other phones in its class (Sonim Bolt) is that it does not have IP98 classing or better known as being water proof. The phone performs well and has a loud enough speaker to be easily heard even in noisy conditions. Another disadvantage to this phone is the inability to light up the outer display without flipping the phone open. The phone is extremely durable to impacts however suffers from easily being damaged from water. It has an extra thick frame that helps protect it from drops and falls and a back plate that locks in tightly. The battery life on this phone is great and it benefits from being a HSPA+ device that allows you to easily unlock and choose what network you wish to work on, while providing global capabilities.

Nice rugged design; wish the leeching vendor/data apps could be removed

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

This is a well-designed phone,
built take some drops and splashes.
Nice feel to hold in the hand,
and it actually resembles a phone.

There is a lanyard loop (steel) protruding from the back of the Rugby II.

This was improved in the Rugby III, by making it 'recessed', i.e. flush within the profile of the phone.

The rugby II is lighter than the original/first Rubgy model.
However, the Rugby II still has a decent bit of heft so that it doesn't feel cheap or chintzy.

The flip hinge also has a nice quality feel to it.

One thing that's an unappealing annoyance, is the prevalence of vendor (AT&T) apps (including the PTT feature) which connect to the vendor data network. These icons/apps tend to get activated accidentally quite often; then when you close them, you'll see that you've been charged a penny here, a few cents there, for those little mistakes, which are obviously AT&T's plan to line their pockets no matter what.

I wish there was a way to strip those leeching apps from the phone's software interface.

Other than that I like the phone; it has a music player, customizable ringtones, support for removable storage (TF card), bluetooth and USB connection.

Good phone!

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

Tough phone!! One bad feature is that there is a button on the outside that activates the camera when the phone is closed. I had 700 pictures of the inside of my pocket. I popped the button off and took the pin off the middle and put back on. Now I have to open the phone to use camera. Very loud speaker and battery lasts most of the week.Popular belief is that this phone is waterproof. It is NOT!!! It is rain and spill proof only. DO NOT SUBMERSE or like me you will be buying a new one.

This is Definitely a phone that can "Take a Licking and Keep on Ticking" !!

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

My old MotoRAZR cell phone would no longer re-charge, after many years of admirable service. I had changed the battery several times before, but this time the problem was the phone. I tried several different new batteries and chargers, but still got "Unable to Charge" errors.

The Samsung Rugby II was a suitable replacement due to its sturdy construction, and hopefully will serve me as long, or longer than my old MotoRAZR.

The changeover was a "Snap". I just put my old Cingular SIM into the Samsung Rugby II, and I was immediately back in business, just where I had left off.
The Samsung Rugby II arrived in "Undistinguishable from New" condition, with not a scratch nor any wear mark anywhere on it.

"No Worries Mate" if you drop it on hunting for the battery or compartment door, as the compartment has a Locking screw !
It even has a metal (read M-E-T-A-L, not some kind of shiny plastic) lanyard attachment, so it can be retrieved from the depths of whatever bag, pack, or bucket you happen to carry your phone in.
It works perfectly and the "Push to Talk" button is a great feature to keep up with business when "out in the field".
