Great Looking New LED HDTV
Created: 07/23/09
This particular new LED HDTV might be much more expensive than most other conventional LCD Models. However, the picture has more clarity and contrast that looks better than seen on most plasma's. And this LED is eco-friendly with using less power than most LCD TVs and are mercury free. The 240Hz rending technology is an even better feature to prevent blurriness during quick motion images compared with the usual 120Hz that most other HDTVs have. The only draw back I saw is that the TV is very delicate since it's so slim, and that the surface can be easily scuffed. So, be very carefully handling it especially when touching the screen. Overall, this is an excellent TV to have with it's numerous features.

Samsung UN55B8000 55 in. HDTV TV

The clarity and depth perspectives, Color contrast are absolutely excellent. The smart electronics, let's me put in a dvd or blue ray disc and turns on the Samsung UN55B8000 55 in. HDTV TV with out the remote control, selects the HDMI input. There is a LED in the remote that lights the keys on the remote control to make a easy selection in a dim lit room. Also the 2.4 gHz remote makes it so you don't have to point at the TV. Excellent choice for the price on ebay.
The CRT input is limited to 1680x1050 the picture was kind of disappointment from the computer. It could be displayed at 1920x1080 with a DVI input and a video card. This would be an improvement for the computer connection.

Love it. Picture qaulity is better then avarage. Easy to control and setup right out of box. The overall design is sleek and modern. Perfect size for our bedroom. Really like the fact it does not pump out heat like the plasmas do. I haver plasmas in the family and living room down stairs. However, I would never put a plasma in the bedroom due to heat they generate. This unit like all LED/LCD tvs dont give off heat like plasma's do.

Samsung UN55B8000 LED HDTV

I really love this TV, I truly believe it is the crispest picture that can be had today, without paying >$2500. Once you get to the upper echelon of TV's, the picture quality is identical to this TV, you're just paying for extra features, such as 3D (I personally think 3D is neat, but very gimmicky and not worth the $$$).
The blacks on this set are really black, sometimes TOO black (it can look unusual); I have compared with local-dimming LED displays, and the differences are nominal. Backlit LED tv's are very nice, but "local dimming" simply means that parts of the screen can turn their lights OFF to get a very deep black. This can cause "blooming" in the picture as light bleeds from light to dark. The only caveat to an edge-lit TV like this is that it should be viewed in a normally lit room. By this I mean that if you have natural light pouring in, you will have a glare. On the other end of the spectrum, if you view it in a totally dark room, you will see the "flashlight" effect...the edge lit LED's cast a kind of haze across the screen that is very distracting. I don't like watching TV in the complete dark, so we just keep a lamp on in the living room at night and it is perfect.
This TV looks unreal when playing PS3, as well as Blu-Ray. We use Dish Network, and most of their HD channels look fabulous. Depending on the source, the picture is generally good on this TV. We also like to rent movies from Amazon On Demand (best selection, lowest price), and I notice that some movies look better than others depending on the quality of the data. Widgets are a bit slow, but not terrible...and we only really use On-Demand. With our internet connection, we can usually stream a full HD movie with little problems. It's awesome, we'll probably never go to the theater again!
The 240Hz smoothing is cool, but takes getting used to. It feels like you're the cameraman and moving on the "camera cart". You become acutely aware of the fact that you're watching a set with actors. I guess technology has reached a point where Hollywood has to work overtime to make things look real!
All in all, the price of this set is dropping and I think it will be very hard to significantly outperform the picture on a set like this in the next few years. If you're not sold on the new 3D sets I think you could be very happy with something like this for the next few years!

Good for watching TV

I have 4 Samsung TVs at home and this is the first LED edgelit i have. Known the issue that screen will brighter at all four corner, it's annoying if you always watching DVD or even 24. I like Samsung but edgelit LED may not good as those good LCD. Other than this, picture quality is prefect and you may even feel you at the scene rather than watching TV.
