The Samsung Instinct S30 offers a slick design, bigger external memory, and an attractive touch-screen interface. Features are respectable and the call quality is satisfactory.
The Samsung Instinct S30's video quality is erratic and it lacks Wi-Fi and camera editing options. In a disappointing move, Samsung and Sprint downgraded the EV-DO support.
The Samsung Instinct S30 has its good points, but Samsung and Sprint missed the opportunity to make a better device.

Despite some of the negative reviews I've read, (after using the phone myself), it turns out that I like this phone. Alot of people have said the phone freezes up. Well yes, that did happen when I first received the phone, before activating it on my Sprint account. I contacted Sprint through Customer Support through live chat. While activating the phone I told the chat agent about the phone freezing up issue. She stated that she had reset my device from her end, asked me to power the phone off then back on again. And the issue was resolved. I have been enjoying the phone since that day with no other freezing issues. I have dropped it on a hard floor while shopping and that didn't harm it at all. It still works perfectly. And may I add that I bought this phone (used) here on eBay, and to say that it was used, it works as if it's brand new. You can't always go by what you read in reviews. Sometimes it's best to experience things for yourself. For anyone else having issues with their phone freezing, maybe Sprint can fix your issue like they did for me. It wouldn't hurt to give them a call before returning it.
Now as for the features: I don't like the fact that the phone does not have a file manager to view what's on the memory card. All other phones I've owned all had that option. This is the first phone I've had without it. I assumed all phones had it, but I guess I was wrong. Pictures, videos, music, ect are saved to the card. You only access the files through the apps, such as the music player, and the fun menu. I wouldn't recommend using the phones default browser because it is not full screen. It's best to use the Opera that is pre-installed on it. Call quality is great, mp3 files play very loud and clear. The touch screen is very responsive. The phone is user friendly. Another thing I wish were different is the phone's wallpaper. You only get to see it when you press the power/lock button briefly to check the time. It only displays for about 5 seconds. As much as I love downloading wallpapers it's a bit disappointing not to see it most of the time. You also see it when you receive a text but only lightly dimmed when the phone displays the option to view or dismiss the message. Other than lacking a file manager and the wallpaper, I really like this phone. And I'll most likely be using it until it's time for an upgrade on my account.
Let me first start by saying that I am not a bleeding edge tech-nophile.
This phone gives me everything that I wanted out of a cell phone and more.
PROS:
Phone has a solid feel to it.
Onscreen keyboard for texting was easy to use, and I have large/wide fingers.
Battery life is better than any other phone I have ever had.
Signal strength was really good. I can actually use this phone in my metal roofed house. No other phone I have had would catch a signal.
Screen looks really clear.
CONS:
It doesn't have all of the bells and whistles that some of the bigger smart phones have.
If you are looking for a cell phone that you will primarily use as a texting/calling device with some Internet surfing sprinkled in, this is a really good option for you.
If you want something that can run a game, surf the net, make a call, and watch your kids for you all at the same time, you might want to look elsewhere.
This phone is very easy to use, has a great camera/media center, great user interface etc..
What I do not like however, is that applications for this device are few and distant. it is a chore to search for apps that fill me needs.
also, not very customizable, but user friendly non-the-less.
Overall it is a great phone. Many new features for me that was not included with my old flip phone. Like GPS, and message retrieval is cool. I do not like to use it for text messaging. I want a keyboard and will upgrade in the near future to a smartphone with full mini keyboard. Also when using it for the internet a stylus is a must. You simply cannot select the ultra tiny links with your fingers. Overall touch screen is good, but as stated hard to text because there are no keys and no keys means no feel.
