First off.... I'm not a techie kind of person. I just want my phone to make and receive phone calls and text messages really... I don't need all the gizmos and gadgets and widgets and "apps"! And this phone does make and receive calls and texts, and call quality is good - so that's a damn fine start!
BUT - there is something which I wanted... a feature that is lacking from pretty well every other manufactures portfolio of features. DUAL SIM.
Like a lot of people I know, I carry two phones and my phones are on different networks - one on Vodafone, the other on O2.... one for work and one for personal. I am self employed and work largely from home so it is important that I am contactable at all times, whether I am at home or not... but I don't really want to give out my personal number to clients or suppliers. I want to be able to segregate my life in that respect.
There are plenty of phones out there which will take two SIM cards, but you have to switch between the two. This one keeps both the SIMs active all the time, so you can make and receive calls and texts on either SIM at any time. It is everso simple to set up - you can have a different ring tone and text alert for each SIM so you know instantly which line the call or message is coming in from. A little icon on screen also tells you which SIM a call or message is on, so if the phone is on silent, no problem. When texting you have two "send" buttons - one for each SIM... likewise when making phone calls - two dial buttons, so you always have complete control over both numbers, but all from one device. Perfect. I can't understand why no one has done it before!
The interface is easy to use and fairly intuitive... I've had to consult the manual for a couple of things, but on the whole stuff is pretty much where you would expect to find it and things do just seem to work without that infuriating moment of hair pulling which usually seems to accompany learning to use a new phone.
Other stuff... well, everything you would expect I guess. Internet is easy via 3G, GPRS or Wifi and the GPS works very well (incidentally, you can take calls on one SIM while you are browsing the net or using GPS navigation on the other!). It's pretty to look at, light to carry, not to big or too small, comfortable to hold and has a pair of reasonable cameras too... one front and one back. The screen is responsive to the touch and easy to see, even in bright sunlight and on average the battery seems to last about 3 or 4 days between charges (probably less if you are using a lot of internet or playing music, which I don't really), which is pretty good I reckon. The screen auto rotates to landscape when you tilt the phone (as you would expect) which makes two handed typing easy, but even in portrait mode typing is easy enough. The predictive text isn't insane (unlike some phones) and so far I don't think I have sent any wonky messages. So far, it holds the accolade of being the only phone which my handbag has been incapable of unlocking and randomly phoning people on - which is a bonus!
More than that? Well, it's an Android Smartphone running ICS... what can I tell you? If you are reading this, then chances are you have already done a bit of research and you already know all the techie bits about the Galaxy S series anyway! No need for me to just repeat what you can read elsewhere.
All in all, it's an excellent phone - I would highly recommend it to anyone who currently carries two phones :o) x
This is my second Dual Sim from Samsung. My last one was a very robust and usable phone. My work place is not really phone freindly. This New Smart Phone does every thing I want and has already taken a few hits. Nobody needs to carry 2 phones. Most workplaces require you carry a work mobile. This little ripper will do most of the functions you need. Bluetooth Audio is excellent as I use it through my Helmet when riding and the camera function is ok. Its fairly quick with no lockups or hangs and returns good battery life if you kill most of the unused apps or functions running. You wont get better for the price. Stay away from the Cheap Chinese Androids as they will only disapoint you. These are the Best.
Needed a 2-sim phone as I have 2 numbers, one ATT-USA, and one Vodafone Italy...my wife also has ATT-USA/TIM Italy numbers, and she carries the same phone.
Best option if you NEED a 2-sim device. Only one on the market (that I could find) that supported a 2nd call WAITING FUNCTION ON THE SIM NOT BEING CURRENTLY USED (assuming the sim is activated). Great screen resolution. Would like to see the power button on top, as when held and power button is to be pressed, your fingers also press the volume buttons on other side of phone. Easy setup for e-mails and such. Also, battery is easily changed, and sim slots are easily accessible. Mfg SHOULD supply micro-sim adapters with the phone.
Would recommend to anyone that needs a 2-sim phone, and are willing to spend the money for the best.
If you don't think battery life is long enough, buy a b/u battery pack.
If you think price is too high, you need to remember you get what you pay for.
Overall, a good pic, and that is after doing some serious research.
Indeed the worst experience I ever had after purchasing such a stupid manufacturer's device.when your internal memory get full, you are left behind with a slow, hanging & warming device. No option in the apps manager for "cache clearing"or"Move To Memory Card".your internal memory will be full, memory card will be empty & emailing to samsung support will result in non resolving stupid answers
It's a quite good phone with a lot of resources. Due to the Android 4.0 you have full access to top apps on Play Store. Its processor makes you enjoy all the speed it has and you don't experience any minor issues due to slowness. Surely I would recommend it, specially because it is the best among others with the same value.
