I have decided to upgrade my laptop HDD from 40 GB to 160 GB. I have decided to get 160 GB due low price. Shipping was fast and its price was reasonable. After moving to new HDD I gain additional storage and performance improvement as well. HDD produces low level of noise and is quieter than my old 40 GB Fujitsu Siemens HDD.
Excellent low power high speed replacement for the original "top of the line" 7200 RPM Expensive HITACHI (IBM Trevelstar) laptop hard drive.

This Samsung 160GB drive replaced a Fujitsu 80GB drive in my ancient (vintage 1999) Compaq 1800T laptop as I needed more space. I am extremely pleased! It runs very cool and is nearly silent. ... ... ... Most impressively, the drive shows no degradation in speed across the entire surface of the drive using the HD Tune Pro 4.6 Benchmark test. Note that all this means is that my legacy rig cannot handle the maximum transfer speeds that this drive is capable of delivering. ... ... ... During the 11 years I've been running this Compaq 1800T laptop, I've used drives from Seagate, Fujitsu and now Samsung. If you're looking for a large capacity 2.5" IDE drive for an older rig, IMHO you can't do better in value and performance than this drive.

I needed a replacement drive for a friends laptop and I just wanted to use the same capacity and the best price I found was this drive, the installation was flawless and the speed and performance was great.
