I have a brother-n-law who loves saltwater aquariums. I decided to buy this guide because this brand book is very popular.
The basic aquarium is covered as soon as you open the book. You need to read this book on basics to saltwater equipment, fish breeds, power needed to run an aquarium, filtration needs, heater needs, your water stability, lighting which can become very important.
Feeding, algae inside the tank, cleaning times, live foods are covered in basic plain English. These are your very important points that you really need to understand. You just can't go out and purchase and slap a tank together overnight. This book will guide you through your first thinking. You may detour a saltwater tank after reading this book.
Responsibilities on a tank require weekly adventure, types of fish are just as important, aggressive to fish eating fish are keen to keeping your fish alive. Basically some fish will not live with other fish breeds.
I rated 4**** because this book is for beginners and I kinda have some advanced knowledge about saltwater aquariums, so I found the book almost too basic. But for first timers reading material you could simply walk away from this type fish aquarium book with complete 100% readiness. Saltwater aquariums are not easy to task and you need to have the enjoyment to own one. Just going out an buying one because someone else has one will not become affordable or practical. Hard work goes into a saltwater tank to have a grand saltwater tank display.
I stand by this book after I thoroughly read a few chapters. Excellent source on saltwater tanks knowledge for beginners.

If you are just getting into the saltwater aquarium world or are already an experienced aquarist, this is an excellent book and reference for all enthusiasts. It covers everything from tank setup to maintenance and even selection and co inhabitance of fish and invertebrates. Also goes into depth on setting up and maintaining all types of tanks, reef,fish-only,coral, etc.
This is a fantastic tome of knowledge for a prospective buyer with little to no experience. It gives a very complete overview of setting up and maintianing a simple marine aquarium. It takes you throught the entire process, and puts it in easy to understand lingo. Definately should be the first read of anyone considering a marine aquarium. A person with some experience in fish care will find it mostly unuseful, as it is very basic. Very much for the begginer, though you never know what you may learn. It does cover everything, though briefly. Just the need to know stuff you might say.
This book covers every detail and aspect of a saltwater tank including setup from scratch, cycling a tank, types of fish and invertebrates, and the do's and dont's. This book is great for those who know nothing about saltwater systems, to those who already know about saltwater systems, but that are uncertain about different aspects.
Saltwater for Dummies is an excellent guide for beginners to follow. A lot of books are written to convey the intelligence of its author rather than to readers. This book pays particularly close attention to detail so that its readers may thoroughly understand.
Saltwater aquariums can be quite intimidating, but with the help of this book they can become your next big adventure. I highly recommend this book to those curious of saltwater aquariums. It's only flaw is that you may not want to put it down.
I chose to buy Saltwater Aquariums for Dummies, because I have used the Dummies books many times in the past. They helped me get through calculus, chemistry and physics!
