| Are you brave (and lucky) enough to conquer the world? Based on the classic board game of the same name, RISK combines the much-loved, time-tested global tug-of-war with all-new options to create a masterful contest of chance and strategy. For those wishing to re-create the magic of the board game, Classic Risk mode has you waging war across the standard-issue RISK map. As with the original, all battles take place between 1792 and 1800, so the map will reflect the names of the regions at that time. Each player takes his turn moving armies into chosen locations, playing off of strategies, initiating battles, and doing whatever it takes to eliminate the competition. In Ultimate Risk, you decide whether players should each defend their capitol, wipe out all competing armies, or control 50% of the playing field in order to win. Whichever of these endings you select will determine how the game is played. Ultimate Risk also allows the use of generals, forts, terrain modifiers, natural disasters, and more. You can use up to eight different factions in a game, four of which can be human controlled. There is also a Head-to-Head mode and up to four players can get in on the action via Multi-Tap. | |

21st Century Chess...Risk (PS 1998) (also available for PC) is a CLASSIC if there ever was one. I remember being up til dawn struggling to retain control of the Pyrenees or regain the Chippewa and Cree Lands like it was yesterday! Hasbro (or whoever owns the rights these days) should reboot THIS version of risk for consoles/computers/handhelds/phones and make an excellent return on investment! Until then, covet the remaining copies of the PS/PC CD's.
I played this game with friends for hours on end. You dont need 4 controllers. you can just pass the controller around as it is a turn based game. Just like the board game but with extras. Love it. must buy if you have a system that play's it and enjoy the board game.
IF you enjoy playing RISK the board game...you will enjoy this one .... it is like playing the board version without all the mess of the pieces and cards...
The Extended version adds more countries and situations...Very good game..
This is one of my favorite playstation games of all time and I'm so happy to have it back again. If you have ever played the board game, this has all that without all the little pieces and counting, plus extras that don't factor in with the board game enhancing it to a greater level. This game is awesome, and laid back without stress.
This is a great game that can be shared by young and old alike. As a family it has given us an opportunity to sit down and play a video game together. If you like the board game you will truly enjoy this version.
