Absolutely perfect drill.I have several and only use ridgid tools. With the size of it you can use it on just about anything you can get your hand into. And the weight makes it easy to use all day. As far as the chuck problem i have read about. Once you put the bit in the chuck; without drill running tighten it that way and it never comes out. I had the same issue for a while. If you try to tighten it with the drill running it will loosen up right away. My drills have several hundred hours on them and they run like new. And just because its small doesn't mean it lacks on power! If I personally designed a drill for myself I couldn't have done any better.

I got this at Home Depot. They were having a special so I got a third battrey free. The first drill I took home wasn't perfect. I do some precision drilling, and with a good quality drill bit chucked it showed a bad wobble in the chuck.I put the same bit in my Hitachi cordless and had no wobble. I exchanged it and found the replacement much better, but still not perfectly true. I'm not liking the reviews showing short battery life.
It feels clunky in my hand, like it's oversized.
The motor is where this drill excells. This Four Pole , Open Frame motor is great. It just sounds right.
I think the chuck is short and fat. My Hitachi has a long pointy chuck that allows me to get in lower in a tight spot. Sometimes that can make a difference.
A good drill, this is my second, to replace the first while it's in for repairs. Bought the original because of lifetime warrantee. Batteries do not last well, but were replaced quickly for free from ridgid. The drill has endured many dropps of at least 10 feet onto hard ground & concrete. I don't like the chuck/clutch, only adjustable in high gear. The first drill has had the reversing switch replaced, and now the entire motor & gearbox. All warranteed. It has seen extreem use, drilling & screwing 8 hrs/day, 4 days a week.
I like the Makita better as a confortable quality tool, but replacing batteries for free makes a big difference.
Caution, Buying "tool only" will not be covered by the lifetime warrantee. For warrantee, be sure to submit online information, and mail form to ridgid with all info.
The drill is amazing it has plenty of power and because of its small size you can use it in most places, the only disadvantage: the chuck is a kind of small and for that reason doesn't allow you to really tight it. I liked it a lot.
