Sweatin' to the Oldies is a lot of fun. Not only is it a good exercise routine, the music is great. You get to see people in various stages of weight loss and different fitness levels all doing the same exercise, just modifying to fit their needs. Since it was done years ago, Richard Simmons looks very young! And the live band is clearly 80's all the way. But if you want a moderate workout that is fun to do, I highly recommend this DVD.
I made this purchase a few weeks ago. I have always loved Richard Simmons . It is a fun workout , exercising to the oldies music. I would recommond this dvd to anyone wanting to get in shape and have a good time all at the same time.
I started out "sweatin" with Richard Simmons' videos when they first came out several years ago. When I saw the release of this DVD of the original, I grabbed at a chance to get it. As I get older, I don't enjoy going to work out in public where I'm faced with all of the people who are 30 years younger, and who have much more toned and youthful looking bodies. Now, I can do what I did all of those years ago. I can do some reasonable excercise in the privacy of my own home with no one watching me, just like I did years ago with this same video. I am a teacher, and it became a routine for me to come home from school, change clothes and "Sweat with the Oldies" while dinner was cooking. I am so happy to have found it once again and look forward to starting my routine of years ago. I will never look the same as all of those younger, but at least I can get some excercise, while I'm enjoying myself without feeling out of place. I had hip replacement surgery two years ago as well, and there is nothing in this DVD that I am not allowed to do. It's a great find for me, a terrific DVD, and Richard Simmons gives me the incentive to do things that no one else has ever motivated me to attempt. Thanks for releasing the DVD. I'm about to purchase the next one for a bit of variety! Everyone who feels like me about working out publicly should try this DVD. TERRIFIC!!!
I had been working out to my original VHS tape and a replacement VHS I had found elsewhere since the original version came out way back when, but my daughters kept "borrowing" them each time. I have purchased many other workout videos, but I keep coming back to this one. Nothing else comes close if you are an oldies fan and want a good cardio and overall session. As someone else stated in a review, RS doesn't explain how to do it, but it takes no time to learn the moves; my girls and I would even dance around the house making the moves when one of the songs on this tape would play on the radio. It takes more time for these routines than for most others out there, but when we are pressed for time, we do the warmup, one of the "medium" routines, one of the "blood-pumping" routines, another "medium" routine, then skip to the cool down session. He even allows time to get a drink of water between routines, but he keeps you moving, even if it is just walking. Fun, fun, fun. Am I a fan of this particular workout routine? Oh, yeah!
I originally had a copy of this exercise dvd on video tape. I used it so much that I wore it out and decided to purchase a new version of it on dvd. It is an exercise routine that anyone can participate in regardless of age or weight. The music is fun and Richard Simmons is the best at keeping everything moving.
