    Movie synopsis
A headstrong airline tycoon pays the ransom for his abducted son, despite the pleas of his wife and FBI agents, then must gamble on the consequences of attempting to turn the tables on the kidnapper, setting up a gut-wrenching confrontation between the anguished father and the increasingly desperate criminals. This tightly conceived nail-biter, with head-spinning plot twists, is another fine effort from the director of "Apollo 13."

    Ransom

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

Tom Mullen is a wealthy corporate executive used to mediating tough business deals, and doing things his own way. Along with his beautiful wife Kate and son Sean, Tom has all the material trappings of success, including a Fifth Avenue penthouse, an enviable position in New York society and high media visibility. But when the thing he cherishes most--his young son--is abducted by desperate criminals and held for ransom, Tom's world of affluence and privilege comes crashing down. And after an FBI rescue operation fails, he engineers a dangerous countermeasure in a last chance effort to bring his boy back to safety. With his son's life hanging precariously in the balance, and his wife terrified by the shocking plan, Tom offers an appalling proposal, the response to which could easily result in the loss of his son forever. If you're looking for intense drama, suspense, and amazing acting, "Ransom" has it all.

    "Terrific Thriller!"

Mel Gibson, Gary Sinise and Rene Russo star in Ron Howard's
1996 thriller. An airline tycoon threatens the kidnappers who
abducted his son. This is one of Mel's best and Gary is great
as usual. This dvd has good picture and sound plus neat extras.
    I recommend this terrific thriller.

    Ransom

    Review For: Ransom (DVD, 1997)

Here is yet another hit with Mel Gibson. A very rich man just trying to get through life with his wife and son, but his son disappears. The actions Gibson takes when given a Ransom note for his son, really surprises you. Everything he and Renee Russo go through because of his decisions and the total outcome are a bit of a surprise. Great action and acting. Another one to add to a dvd collection. You can't really say too much more without ruining the movie for people that have never seen it. It's definitely a great movie and well worth the time to sit down and watch it. So..........................................
sit back with popcorn and a drink and enjoy an afternoon.

    Review For: Ransom (DVD, 1997)

Good movie about an airline executive who's very young son is kidnapped by a group of people led by Gary Sinise who is also a police officer. Mel Gibson plays the airline executive and Rene Russo is his wife. The kidnappers demand a two million dollar ransom. The FBI is called in and they begin to negotiate and take control of the situation. Gibson is willing to pay the ransom, but when he thinks about it, he figures that once the ransom is paid, there is nothing to stop the kidnappers from killing him anyway. Gary Sinise, disguising his voice makes the arrangements to meet Gibson in a quarry where the exchange will be made. When Gibson arrives, one of the kidnappers is there to receive the money. Gibson is supposed to be given an address where he can get his son, but this guy doesn't know anything about it. When he demands the money, Gibson says no and the FBI starts shooting and kills the kidnapper. Fearing that they plan to kill his son anyway, Gibson decides to turn the tables on them and goes to a TV station and goes on air with the $2M cash and offers it as a ransom to anybody who will turn them in. He goes further to tell the kidnappers that if they return his son, he will lift the bounty and drop all charges. Sinise is furious and in disguise, attacks and threatens Russo that he will kill the kid if the ransom isn't lifted and payment isn't made. After this incident, Gibson announces that he is doubling the bounty to $4M. As a cop, Sinise knows that for this much money, there is no place that you can hide. He kills his other accomplices and acts like he found the boy and rescued him. His son returned and Sinise slightly wounded, Gibson agrees to pay the ransom to Sinise. When he comes to collect, Gibson's son who was blindfolded all the time recognized Sinise's voice and was terrified. Sensing that Gibson knew, he tries to force him to go to the bank with him and transfer the funds to another bank. Once at the bank, everything goes wrong and a gun battle breaks out on the street where Gibson finally kills him. This actually was a good movie, and was very well acted by both Gibson and Russo.
