All around GREAT!

Review For: The Punisher (DVD, 2004, Limited Time Mini Comic Books)
Don't think that because the character drinks, he's making a statement of opinion about this movie. "The Punisher" takes right after "High Noon," "Kill Bill 1 & 2," "Hulk," even Shakespeare's "Othello". Comic book-adapted or otherwise, this is a GREAT pic with comic relief (but inappropriate and prolix) and a cast of villains led by John Travolta who's mean business and mashes the hero up quite a bit. This is a revenge movie masquerading as (according to Tom Jane in the role of Frank Castle) a punishment drama, by which Frank means to say that he is not an avenger after all but simply a punisher. If you can tell the difference, please let me know!!
Also too, like "Hellboy" there are no monsters aside from the moral ones.
Frank Castle is an FBI agent whom a drug-and-prostitution tycoon ironically named Howard Saint (John Travolta) blames for the death of his son during a sting operation. When his entire family Frank's dad (played by Roy Scheider), his wife Maria (Samantha Mathis) and others are murdered by assault rifles, bombs and vehicle hit-and-run, Castle dismayed that his FBI had not arrested a single perp in five months takes the law into his own hands. Like Uma Thurman's Beatrix Kiddo in "Kill Bill 1 & 2," Castle marks for vengeance any and all of the murderous gang, from higher-ups like Quentin Glass to the more ordinary member of Saint's infantry. You may be able to guess the identity of the last person to be caught in the view of Castle's guns.
"The Punisher" delivers per expectations, a charismatic hero and chief villain, the former a dashing, muscular type content with being shot, stabbed, thrown against walls; the latter a bespoke multimillionaire who in one instance has a debt to a drug supplier of $50 million dollars and thinks of that as small change. (LOL!!)
Chases and overturned cars, weapons ranging from a genuine Bowie knife to bows and arrows, pistols to assault rifles, a woman (Joan, played by Rebecca Romijn-Stamos) who has a perfect figure, a beautiful face, and is a caring, empathetic supporter who can even stitch up a bad knife wound but works in a greasy spoon see 'em all within the two hours plus tenure of the movie.
Thrown in for comic relief is an obese fellow who sings Donna e mobile to his well-pierced idiotic but loyal friend (Dave and Mr. Bumpo, played by Ben Foster and John Pinette) That was funny!
"The Punisher" will give you a blast! Think and calculate plot holes Good Luck! There are NONE! I think we can look for a sequel given the statement by Frank Castle that he is going to dedicate his life to punishing criminals throughout the land.
Pay what EBAY wants. DON'T MISS IT!

The origins of Marvel's "The PUNISHER"
Created: 04/02/09
I am a HUGE marvel Comics fan, and The PUNISHER is my favorite hero. This is a GREAT movie to watch if you are a age-old fan OR want to witness the birth the birth of one of Mavels greatest heros. With Tom Jane as Frank Castle. An Ex SPEC-OPs who's family is killed by a mob hit. Barely surviving the attack, Castle plans not revenge, but PUNISHMENT. Also with, John Travolta as the villain and the man who pland the mob hit, Howard Saint. Again, a great action movie to see, although somewhat violent, fun for fans and newcomers alike.

Excellent Guy flick and true to the Comic book Vision!
Created: 07/09/10
There have been 3 movies made about this character. The 1st was was done in the 80's with Dolph Lundgren playing the lead role and with the exception of a few bad one liners and "hokey" acting in places, it actually wasnt too awful bad. The newest movie done in 2009 was OK, but it seemed to me to be more focused on brutal, blatant violence than a foundational story line. They did finally introduce Jigsaw in the newest release, but In my opinion, His character was "a miss". This Punisher movie (2004) is by far the best acted and directed. Its fairly true to the comic book form of frank Castle. Thomas janes NAILS the character! And John Travolta is, as it turns out an EXCELLENT punisher Villian! Great movie, great plot, Well acted by all invloved. If your into "shoot em up's" and "revenge flicks" Ya gotta get this one!

"Good Comic Book Film!"

Thomas Jane and John Travolta star in this 2004 action film
based on the comic book. A retired FBI agent seeks revenge
on a ruthless businessman who had his family killed. This
is a good comic book film and Thomas is great as Frank
Castle. This dvd not only has nice picture and sound,
but it's extended with neat extras. I recommend this.

A Great Marvel Movie Release

Review For: The Punisher (DVD, 2004, Limited Time Mini Comic Books)
People always complain that this movie didn't stick true to the comics....well...most of the Marvel movies strayed from the events in the comics anyway, so you should really say that about all of them before you go off and praise the ones like Spiderman. Anyway, that being said, despite the fact that some of the events and facts don't line up with the comics, this movie still has a great presentation. The way in which you witness the created of the character known as the Punisher is sad, but so emotional that you really can connect with the character and understand why it is, he is doing what he does. Jane does an amazing job portraying the Punisher and Travolta does a superb job playing an evil, sadistic, mob-like boss. The action in this movie is great, especially the fight scene between the Russian and the Punisher. There is a good amount of violence in this movie, but what did you expect? The Punisher was a character more for older fans of comics, which is why this movie stays true to that perspective by putting out a rated R movie with a decent amount of violence. The ending is pretty cool, the way the Punisher puts together this really complex plan to get revenge on his enemy. I thought that there was a little bit of character development lacking with some of the surrounding characters involved, perhaps their direction just wasn't set properly, but it's really nothing that takes the movie down a notch. I think fans of the Punisher comics will enjoy this and so will any Marvel comic fan. Be advised, though, this is a rated R movie so it's going to be a little more intense than previous Marvel movies.
