Movie synopsis
Sent to eliminate a gun-running camp in Central America, United States Major Dutch Schaeffer (Arnold Schwarzenegger) and his commandos get more than they bargained for when they cross paths with a mysterious assassin. As members of their unit begin to disappear, Dutch, Dillon (Carl Weathers), and Blain (Jesse Ventura) conclude that whatever is hunting them is not of this earth. Every attempt at a tactical defense is a defeated for Dutch and company and it is only in the last stretch of their race to safety that their suspicions are confirmed and they encounter the alien nimrod face to face.A summer box office smash, 1987's PREDATOR re-ignited an old trend of movies depicting aliens invading earth that began decades earlier with films like WAR OF THE WORLDS and INVADERS FROM MARS. McTiernan does a miraculous job of directing the "invisible" Predator. Furthermore, the special effects, which are stunningly subtle and never boisterous, make PREDATOR a strikingly contemporary sci-fi effort even amid today's techno-thrillers.

The movie is still great....and deserves better

"Predator" is one of my favorite sci-fi movies. When I heard it was coming to blu-ray I was very excited. That excitement dimmed however once I saw the transfer. Someone somewhere got a bit over zealous with the digital noise reduction to the point where some of characters, especially in close-ups look like they are made of wax.

Then they came out with the "Ultimate Hunter Edition." Ah, I thought, this will be an improvement: Wrong. The DNR is still VERY much in evidence and even smeary in some shots. I don't know why they felt the need to make the film look like was shot through a lens smeared with Vasoline, but that just the way it looks in some shots. I realize that they may have not had much to work with from the original prints and negs, but you can't tell me that this is the BEST they could do with it. In any event, if you're thinking about picking up a copy I would recommend a rental first to see if the transfer is going to make you nuts. If not, and you love the movie....GO FOR IT!

The best Arnold film EVER MADE!!!

Predator

Arnold Schwarzenegger's best film.

Action, adventure, special effects and bad accents make this movie one for the ages. Anybody growing up to action films starring the likes of Van Damme, Ahnold, and Sly will remember this film as one of the best action films of it's time.

Predator is about a team of military personnel who go on a rescue mission in the jungle. The team soon finds out they're not alone and fight for their lives against a being from outer space.

Final Verdict:

5/5

Rent or Buy?: Action fans and Arnold fans need this film in their collection. Predator is still one of my favorite action films ever made. Fifteen thumbs up!!!

Action fans and Arnold fans need this film in their collection. Predator is still one of my favorite action films ever made. Fifteen thumbs up!!
