Filmed at the Park West in Chicago (October 11th & 12th, 2005), this video is a great display of what makes Porcupine Tree the premier prog-metal bands of the day. Steven Wilson's witty lyrics and awesome guitar are evident here, and the band is tight as ever. This video rocks and will make your DVD collection the envy of your prog-rock friends.
Not only is there a complete show on one disc, but another disc with a promo clip for 'Lazarus', a cool photo gallery, and clips from the German television show Rockpalast, with the band performing 'Futile' and 'Radioactive Toy'.
I wish there was more from Stupid Dream, but there will always be those songs some fans want to hear live. This DVD is one of my favorite concert performances by any band.
The reason I bought this DVD is, I like the band, and would love to see them in Concert, living In Maine I do not think they will ever get around these parts, Not to mention I am short and its all ways the case some one in front of me at the show is tall and I see nothing But some ones back the whole show, Watching the DVD with the surround sound was amazing, It's truly is a Awesome Concert, I would Highly recommend this to any Porcupine tree fan to get this DVD, its filmed wonderfully and it was like being at the show in the best seat in the house, I love this video, and I will watch it over and over again, A Big thumbs Up from me with a smile!
I saw this tour, so I know exactly what this set should sound like. No, I don't have a pro touring system in my living room. but I do have a decent 5.1 system. The recording is very good, but not great, due to the fact it is only 5.0, which means there is no subwoofer channel. This is disappointing, considering Steve Wilson has produced the three best 5.1 recordings in Rock with In Absentia, deadwing, and In Fear of a Blank Planet.
Fortunately, I have large front speakers, so the bass wasn't lacking too badly. It just would've been nice to have more of the punch in the chest I felt at the actual show. I love the heavy duty clear plastic case. All concert DVDs should be packaged this way. Overall, I'd give it a 88. If it had a subwoofer channel, it would've been a 98.
I can't say any more than if you love Porcupine Tree..then this concert dvd is a must have..absolutely a superb performance ...Five stars!
This band is growing on me the more I hear them. After buying this DVD I am hooked. They do not spend all their earnings on flashy stage show's. You can see and hear that they love the music they play. While they are great musicians Gavin Harrison stands out with his brilliant drumming style. Steven Wilson is a great mind for music lovers. All in all this DVD is worth buying and their cd's are very much worth the cost. I don't downlaod music as I prefer to support the cost that comes with putting great music on the market. I hope this band stays together for a long time.
