All of its capabilities and ease of use is amazing. You can plug an ipod in through the front via USB and fully control it with the radio! Or plug in your phone through the auxillary input in the front also! The radio comes in crystal clear and the output power to my speakers is great! It sounds like i have a mini system in my car! I get full use out of my aftermarket speakers! I fell in love with this radio and the display is also sweet! its bright blue and has different demos it plays. Its great because you dont have to go into your glove box to mess with your ipod, you can just plug it in the front and control it and search through all of your music files with the search button. Simply amazing. 5 stars all the way! Pioneer really did a fabulous job with this radio. and simply put, the best radio i have owned since i started driving. point blank.
This is a very nice headunit from Pioneer. The sound is fantastic, the features are more than you could ask for and it looks good to boot.
I particularly like the built in HD radio, being able to control an ipod through the unit with nothing more than a simple usb cable and the sound enhancement feature is really great. The sound enhancement feature returns the clarity and sound quality back to compressed music (aka mp3s). I swear i was hearing details in the music that I didn't know existed on some of the mp3s I have.
Other handy features.
3 RCA outs, one for front, rear and sub woofer amplifiers.
Built in frequency cutouts, so you can send only your low frequencies to your sub-woofer and only the high frequencies to the rest of your speakers.
Independent sub-woofer volume
You can also change the displayed info and background images, static and moving.
Adjustable brightness with dim feature for night time.
The downside to all these features is it can be a little confusing to navigate through them all and you might find yourself referring to your user manual a few times until you get the hang of it.
People have complained about the multifunction control knob being difficult to use while driving (it rotates, moves in 4 directions and clicks) But I found if I i use one finger to steady my hand on the dash, and another to control the knob, I haven't had an issue. Of course you can always use the remote control as well.
Overall I'm very happy with it and it has done everything I ask and more!
I procured this Pioneer head-unit because I yearned to incorporate the capability of playing audio via my USB Flash Drives. Although there were a couple of disappointments, I was pleasantly surprised by the sound.
First, some negatives.
Probably due to expenditure, Pioneer reverted back to prior methods of direct CD insertion via the top front of the unit thereby eliminating the opening and dropping down the front panel to obtain CD insertion access. For obvious reasons, reliability-wise this method is a plus (no moving parts), BUT the trade-off is a significant loss of display-screen size, and the current screen is now too small. Almost every possible detail anyone could desire is present on that screen, but, unless the head-unit is located less than a foot away from one’s eyes, they can’t be deciphered. Also none of the many incorporated fancy video movie option selections are useful. IMHO the only usable setting is the simple mode option without including the background oscillation option in setup. Otherwise every few seconds the screen display will oscillate between light blue and dark blue, and this becomes extremely annoying while driving.
Entering station presets is a lengthily involved process and is not user-friendly. The volume attenuator is the main command station control and it has multiple functions depending upon how and where it is pushed. I found myself rereading the setup instructions over and over again until I finally understood how to incorporate the settings.
There is absolutely no mention as to the orange/white wire connection in the installation instructions. I assume it should be connected to the dash lighting circuitry but who knows.
The absence of a mute button is sorely missed. The volume control is nicely gradually stepped but this actually becomes a disadvantage to have to give it several turns to obtain silence.
Now, for the positives.
This tuner’s selectivity specifications along with the amplifier's clean rich sound and speaker equalization versatility are simply wonderful. I’ve owned many head units built by different manufacturers and none have sounded as rich and clean as this one.
I’d rate the unit 5 stars for sound quality but give only 3 stars for basic design. If you’re searching for quality sound and excellent FM reception, and don’t mind some design visibility flaws this unit is a great choice.
This product is very high tech and fun to use. Although I did not get a manuel I did download one from the internet and am learning something new and cool daily! I love this stereo and recommend Pioneer to any car stereo user! Waytek75
Ive allways used pioneer products. This 7200 is a very well built unit. It has all the bells and whistles anyone would need. The ability to turn off the display is very nice, for anyone whom drives at night.
The only thing I did not like is the plastic trim, it is rather loose.
This unit is by far better than others, pioneer has never let me down.
