What you should know before you buy Ping I 15 irons
Created: 12/09/09
Before you purchase these irons make sure you get fitted by a reputable fitter. These irons are for the better player with a handicap of 5 or less. I had Callaway tour forged before I got fitted with the Ping I15 and the biggest surprise is the weakness of the pings. I should have paid more attention to the loft differences plus the launch angles. Even though the pings are only 1 to 2 degrees weaker the lower launch angle cuts the distance.
If you want accuracy at the cost of distance then these irons are for you. The better players prefer accuracy to distance that is why these irons are so popular with better golfers.
My accuracy has improved by 50% but I will have to get use to the 5 to 7 yard loss of distance and that should come with use. Plus one big factor that should be considered is that I have yet to use these irons in the summer time. I may be surprised when the weather gets warmer.
You will love the wedge in this set. The feedback of the ball striking the club is great for around the green chipping. My handicap is 3 and I have been playing golf for 46 years.

Ping i-15 irons

the ping i-15 irons are great clubs, they have great control as well as great ball flight. short irons are very workable, long irons are easier to hit then a standard set of clubs. This is a players iron, it has less of an offset than a typical cast club, but a little more than a blade. I upgraded from the infamous Ping eye2 square groove irons and couldnt be happier.

I had been playing with the G10 irons for the last 2 seasons and was able to shave 11 points off my index (G series is a great game improvement club) but now I was at a point were I wanted more workability with my shots. So I decided to go with the i15 -NO disappointments here! The i15's performance is a A+ I noticed a lower ball flight but I maintained the same distance and had a much easier time working the ball and still had forgiveness for the occasional mis-fire. Great irons for lower handicappers!

Best Pings ever made

I have been playing Mizuno T-Zoids for years- great feel and great look. Decided to try out some new irons this Spring. The local pro had some TaylorMade, Calloway, Nike and Ping demos- so off I went to the range. By the way, I have been a 4 handicap in the distant past- now I can shoot low 80's, playing 3-4 times a summer. In any case, the Ping I15's immediately proved to be the best for me. They hit the ball farther and higher than any other club. I was amazed at the difference...at least one club longer than my Zoids and the TM's. Great feel and great topline look. Again, for me, these clubs are easily the only ones I would consider. Eye 2's have always been a great iron- this one has them beat. I would recommend any player at any level give the Ping I15's a try- you won't regret it!

PING i15 irons

I really like these new PING i15 irons. As a low handicapper the smaller head and limited offset allow me to work the ball as needed. The weighting in the cavity really gives these irons a good solid feel. I've always like PING irons because of their color coding system which allows you to get the clubs that fit properly. I would highly recommend these irons to any low to mid handicapper looking for a very playable iron that has conforming grooves.
