Ping Eye 2 Plus 1 Iron
Created: 04/27/10
Why buy a hybrid if you can hit a one iron. Karsten got it right years ago when they produced the Eye 2 One Iron. Club sets up well and is amazingly easy to hit. Much more versatile than the run of the mill hybrid. I've used a one iron for years and found the Eye 2 instills confidence when trying to hit the tight left pin on a water guarded 230 yard par 3. The Ping can also keep you in the narrow fairways when accuracy is vital; all the while maintaining more than sufficient distance to hit any par 4 in regulation. The best thing about having an Eye 2 one iron is telling your golfing buddies. "Yeah, I still hit a knife."

individual Ping Eye 2 Irons
Created: 09/17/08
The Ping Eye 2 irons are the golf equivalent of Levi's 501 blues. I ordered them individually on EBAY to complete a set. While people go on and on about the matching Serial numbers, buying individual clubs allowed me to mix the dot colors used in the Ping system. I decided to make the long irons even more upright and the short irons flatter. I went with regular (black dot irons) in the middle. With one club, I did call Ping with the Serial number and found that while it was listed as a green dot, it was actually a black dot.
I didn't go for any of the pricey BeCu clubs. I did make sure that the irons had the square grooves (the easiest check is to make sure that the Karsten marking below the Ping Eye 2 lettering is not upside down - those very early clubs have V instead of square grooves). One of the individual clubs did have the + which denotes the modified square grooves. In playing the + club, I didn't notice much difference between it and the original square grooves. The word "forgiving" is very accurate with these clubs. Botched approach and chip shots seem to end up closer than they would have been.
I polished the stainless club heads up with fine steel wool and they look fantastic. It is truly hard to believe that they are 20 years old, give or take a couple years.
Best wishes to all Ping Eye 2 and would-be Ping Eye 2 owners!

Ping Eye 2 Irons

I have a complete set of Ping Eye 2 Irons and I believe that you will find that they are very forgiving and competative with today's clubs. They do not have a huge head but the 1 and 2 irons are as easy to hit as the three iron, mainly because they do not lose any size of the head. The sand wedges are well designed and work well out of the bunkers and around the greens. Even in hard packed sand, I was able to get the ball up and out without scalding the ball across the green. I enjoy my Ping Eye 2 irons and would recommend them. If you cant hit them, the flaw is your golf swing and not clubs. Too many people beleive techology will save them, when in actuality, no club will fix poor mechanics. Find yourself any Ping Eye 2 club and you will be happy, I know I am.

The best club in my bag?
Created: 07/06/06
Even though this club seemed to be old and beat, all it needed was a new grip and it is by far the easiest club to hit in my bag. Deadly accurate and perfect weighting make this club, and set a must have. Ive heard that some call this series the best Ping has ever made. Even better than the current production clubs. I beleive them! Im referring to the copper Karstens.
