Perfect Dual screen DVD that detaches becomes portable!

Was looking to replace my Polaroid Dual screen DVD player. Which I bought 3 years aago or more. Was looking for one that did not start over each time I turned the power off. My kids were very frustrated when we took road trips and had to turn off thecar for a gas fill up and then spend 5 minutes trying to go back to the scene they were last at.

I checked out many models, and was hesitant to buy this one with such a low price. But i am SO pleased that I did!!

For my 98 Toyota Land Cruiser, the headrest seat mount straps were just perfect and so easy to strap on. Took me about 3-4 minutes each side.

Then what is interesting and did require a bit of cord hiding was the cigarette lighter adaptor has 2 wires so one goes to each screen. Pretty long cables though and I was able to reach both. My Landcruiser has 1 cigarette lighter and 2 power adaptors so it was no problem.

Next there is a cord that has audio and video and it needs to jump from the main DVD player screen to the secondary monitor. Sadly that cord is not long enough to be tucked in and plugged in so it hangs a little bit.

Thats all I did. Some awesome things I like is that when the kids aren't in the truck I just unplug the cigareete ligher adaptor power cord. When they jump in, I plug the power in and the screen picks up from wherever they left off and comes up in less than 30 seconds. The volume is easy for both kids to reach (a 10 and 7 yr old) And the Main unit only opens to a "V" so the disc can be changed, not all the way like a tea tray which put more stress on the hinges before and eventually wbecame flimsy.

It has not skipped, and the screen resolution is fine for the kids. It's not a high def though. But for the price it is perfect

Lastly it comes with the cables to plug into external audio and video so if you so happen upon a hoel room witha nice TV and no DVD player you can use this.

Or if the kids are just in the middle of finishing up their movie. just unstrap the screen and bring it into the room so they can finish. It comes with the power cord that plugs to the regular home socket.

Philips PD7012 was the right choice for me.

I really like this set of dual dvd players for my car. My grandchildren really like it. There are no big buttons on the front of my screens which is good because children always like pushing buttons. I guess a remote would be nice, but that could also be dangerous while driving. The major choices that I had on eBay seemed to be Philips, RCA, and Insignia. I think I made the best choice when I chose Philips. It seems to be a very sturdy product. Since it is used mostly by children, I think that's what you need. I once had a Sylvania brand, and that didn't make it very long at all. Philips was the right choice for me.

However my overall appreciation is very good.

The DVD have a great sound and are very bright. The pixels could be smaller enhanced the quality of the image. The CD makes a little noise while working.

Hope the next ones are better

I liked the players until the screen went out on the main player basically the same day I got it. Other than that the picture quality is good and it's easy to connect. I would like another one and hope they aren't just defectively made.

AWESOME unit once you start comparing!

Excellent design other than it could use a remote. When your buying a portable unit like this , be sure it has the RESUME feature that this one has. This allows you to shut the car off and when you return to start the car, the movie picks up where you left off. Most all other units do not have this feature and its a must with kids! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this portable unit!!!!!
