Hi, I tried to find inexpensive Android phone but with good features. So, I found that Pantech Burst P9070 and bought two because it matched all my primary needs:
1) It's supported by GooglePlay. So, it's not problem to get an application.
2) Upgradeable to Android 4.0 ICS. OS is provided by Pantech from their official web-site. You can upgrade it yourself but second phone which I've got is already with ICS.
3) It has 4G, WiFi and ability to make WiFi Hot Spot (your carrier must allow this first, for example you must have 5G plan on AT&T)
4) Powerful CPU. Oh yeah. This one has 1.5 GHz CPU. You never meet lag while using.
5) Large internal storage. 16 Gb internal memory, it's not enough? I don't use SD card and I've installed and copied to phone everything what I need and it still has 9 Gigs free space.
6) GPS reciever and Google Navigator which comes free with phone. I removed AT&T Navigator icon because it's paid.
7) Unlocked. My wife uses it on T-Mobile with no complain.
Other thing which don't important for me but they impress me:
1) Camera is really good for that price
2) It has good slim design and light weight.
3) A lot of choice in cases (hard or soft)
Just one bad thing is battery. I was surprised that it drained from 100% to zero for 3-4 hours even if I didn't use it. But problem actually not in phone. This is 4G which eats battery like cakes. If you don't use 4G just disable it. It could be inconvenience to enable/disable it every time. But I installed from GooglePlay couple application which control 4G data if I don't use phone or it goes to idle. So, with that phone could work about 30 hours.
First smart phone. It rocks.
Android 4.0.4. Dual-core @ 1.5 GHz. Lots of internal RAM (1G + 16G). 5MP camera. WI-FI. GPS, Bluetooth. 4" Super AMOLED screen. microSD available - 32G. Removable battery. Connects with micro USB cable (did not come with one, but I already had one for my kindle).
Manuals available on line. So it the Pantech PC Suite.
$75 used on eBay, $10 T-Mobile SIM card, $30 T-Mobile 100 min talk with unlimited data - no contract.
Being Android - lots of applications. And if you want - you can root the phone. It runs the Linux Kernel. Not sure I will go there - but may be able to get better battery life.
Plus you can tether the phone.
This phone took me by surprise.
Pantech has surprised me and all my friends who have had messed around with it. It's fast, really really fast, it has a very decent amount of ram (1gb). 16gb of storage for stuff, but only 1gb can used for the OS and apps so if you have lots of apps and games start using the "move to media storage" feature in the app management menu.
Battery life is not great, but it's pretty decent. I managed to listen to music for 6 hours while chatting on facebook and browsing the web with wifi, so i guess it's not too bad either.
The screen is beautiful(Super Amoled) and very responsive, it's basically lag-less. No lag in games, no lag in facebook app, no lag anywhere.
The stock launcher is ok until you move apps to media storage, icons start to disappear if you do. That was easily solved with "Nova Launcher". Rooting is fairly easy but not for the faint of heart,(or someone who can't follow instructions), but the benefits outweigh the perils.
The camera is an enigma to me. It's 5 megapixels and can do 720p HD recordings, but this device has a Qualcom Snapdragon S3, by specs it can do 1080p without any problems. Maybe another camera app can take full advantage of the specs if it's possible.
I compared this phone side by side with my cousins galaxy 2, the only noticeable difference is the battery life. Other than that we saw no difference whatsoever.
This is a great phone with a small price tag. It's an awesome buy and it's 4G LTE (not the almost 4G, the real 4G LTE)
Fast. Easy to use. Android gingerbread upgradeable to ice cream sandwich. Camera not so good, grainy photos even on highest resolution. 1.5 ghz cpu, 16gb internal memory and expandable up to 32gb micro sd,high resolution display.Sound not so good.
My wife and I started with two Pantech p2020. we loved the phone but realized that the phones had out lived their usefulness and that we were craving more features.
After one bad mistake of buying a Samsung Galaxy Appeal (sch-I827)good phone if you don't add any apps and use it just for talk and text nothing else. For me the phone was just to damn slow - sometimes i would have to wait for anywhere between 3-5 minutes just for the dialer to come up and the call made!
Last month I bought 2 pantech bursts one unlocked the other was not. Bigger screen, 2 camera's (one facing one rear facing thats a 5mp). Did i mention that its easier to access the setting menu just by going to notifications and if you open the second menu in there you will find that you can get to the most important menues from there!
what i liked the most about it is there is a pc client that you can download directly from Pantech. you can connect direct via usb or wireless as long as your on the same network. From there if you need to you can create back ups of all your apps - something i recommend that you do. you can also backup files and contacts, access your sd card and load music, apk's and istall them from the computer!
Would I recommend this product to anyone? well why not and i have done better. Bought more for family and friends.
