|The ZS3 records HD motion images at a smooth 60 frames per second with 1280x720-pixel resolution. It uses the AVCHD (MPEG-4/H.264) format via AVCHD Lite, which stores less data than other formats and thus lets you shoot more minutes of HD motion images before running out of memory. The ZS3 is equipped with an HDMI output terminal for direct transmission of digital picture and sound signals. Just connect the camera to an HDTV using a single HDMI mini cable (purchased separately), and it's easy to view beautiful HD photos and motion images. If you have a VIERA HDTV, you can control the camera's playback functions with VIERA's remote control unit. The ZS3 packs a LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR lens with 12x optical zoom into a compact body. This versatile photographic tool lets you shoot everything from sweeping vistas at the 25mm wide-angle setting to dynamic 300mm telephoto shots. And the lens system's exquisite rendering ability lets you capture even the subtle nuances of the sights and scenes in your travels.|

Long and wide-angle zoom lens in a compact body; 720p movies; lens can zoom during movie capture.
Very few manual controls.
As long as you don't want much in the way of manual features, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3 is a very nice camera that can handle a variety of shooting situations.

I purchased this camera for my wife, and her main requirements were that it was easy to use but yet took quality photos and had a huge zoom. She also wanted to point and shoot the camera without looking in a manual to figure out how to turn it on.
Originally we had been focusing on the ZS1, but this model has a larger LCD screen (3") and records in HD. That's been an added bonus, along with being able to use the 12X zoom while recording video. The camera also has a stability feature to help eliminate blurry photos from a shaky hand. (that would be me)
We haven't used it alot, but are very pleased. A suggestion... Be sure to pick up a memory card right away. The internal memory disappears quickly, especially if recording videos in HD and/or having the photo setting on the highest resolution.
We live on a farm and have a deer who's "adopted" us, showing off her fawns every spring for the past 3 years. With this camera we can sit on our deck, zoom in, and count the little one's eye lashes and she doesn't even know it.
If you're still curious about the camera, drop a note and I'll be glad to show off some examples.
I like the most the solid feel of this camera and the zoom range its Leica lens offers. I can go from wide angle for some scenery shots and tight indoor shots to telephoto shots that can still be hand held without the need of a tripod or the bulk of a bridge type camera. For everything in between, this ZS3 can handle beautifully.
It is fairly responsive for a digital camera, meaning that I don't have to wait between shots or for things to happen after a button is pushed.
I love the resuts : the photos it takes are beautiful so I don't have to erase
too many bad shots or retake the same pose.
It can take short movies too but this is a feature I don't use often.
I decided on this Panasonic model because it answers most of my photographic needs and I chose it over the newer DMC-ZS5 (TZ-8) because it has a sharper, larger viewing screen and a convenient HDMI outlet to connect to my TV.
There is no perfect camera, but with it looks, its feel, its capabilities, I consider my Panasonic DMC -Z3 the best all around camera.
I purchased this camera used because our other Panasonic TZ-5 had a cracked LCD screen. It's easy to use and the HD video is unbelievably clear. It has a face recognition feature that identifies faces instantly and enhances the focus.
Make sure you get all of the accessories including the HDMI cable and USB cable for transferring photos and showing video and photos on your HD TV monitor.
One thing I am not crazy about is the software that comes with it. There's better software out there and I recommend Picasa.
Another good investment is a hard case to protect the camera as dropping it will surely crack the LCD screen. My Lumix DMC-ZS3 works like a charm and takes incredible photos.
I was looking all over the internet and best buy to find the best camera at a good price that would be great for concerts. Not just pictures but the video, audio was key for me.
I came across this camera while looking up "best cameras for concerts" on Google. It looked great! I looked at videos on YouTube and loved it even more. Clear picture and great audio. So i went to eBay and found one that was "manufacturer refurbished". I was hesitant to get it at first but i took a chance. THIS CAMERA IS AWESOME. I love the zoom and the audio works great!
I have been testing this camera all day and the battery lasted i would say about......7 hours? We didn’t even let it charge the whole time and i was filming long videos and recording in front of amps and taking pictures while shaking the camera haha i even turned on the faucet and took a picture of it with a light stream. It caught it in droplets! I’ve never been able to do that before haha so over all why do i love the camera?
1) Sleek look
2) Great zoom
3) Great flash
4) Great picture quality
5) Clear videos
6) AWESOME audio
7) Unbeatable price
8) More things i can’t think of at the moment haha
My only con would be that it is a rechargeable battery since i am more of a disposable battery person. But it still lasts a long time and it will save me money haha
