"Lots of features to experiment with; manual, semimanual controls; 25mm-equivalent wide-angle lens with a 12x zoom."
Disappointing low-light photos.
"If you just want a decent compact megazoom, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS5 is one of the better options thanks to a well-rounded feature set and very good photo quality at lower ISOs."

Absolutely love this camera - bought it as a backup for my other, which is the exact same one. Great pictures, easy to use, lightweight. Would highly recommend, especially for a novice. However, you might want to note that it does not take abuse well; the shutter will stick if you try and use it in the rain. I would also strongly recommend buying the plug-in car charger. The bottom line is I like the camera so much that I have two.
I give this camera a 5 star for the following reasons: Easy to use and understand and takes great photos and videos. I am not even a camera buff and this was my first digital camera, all I did to learn it was start playing with it and clicking buttons for about an hour and it was ready to go. Some indoor photos might need to be manually controlled to get them just right but the Intelligent feature gets it right to my complete satisfaction about 95% of the time. Videos are amazing in their clarity, maybe even better than the photos with no zoom noise and it autofocuses as you zoom in and out.
There are a lot of features I probably will never use nor care to even learn as I needed just good basic pics and vids and this camera is a dream. Only neg I would say is there is no direct connection option to a TV but that is no big deal to me as I merely burn pics and vids to a cd and play them that way. As a side note: Buy a pelican 1010 camera case, they are amazing and fit this camera like it was custom made for it.
Picture quality not as good as I would like. Close up pictures are good. I had the canon sx100 and it is much better. B this camera isn't what I thought it would be
Since my first 'digital' camera, I have owned 6 other small digital cameras. I have paid as much as 4 times the price of my Panasonic Lumix for one camera. I paid less than $100.00 for the Lumix and it is by far the BEST digital camera I've owned. I would give more than 5 stars for 'value for money if I could! Great Ebay price..
A very nice price after reviewing the s8 and s10. If you're looking for a top notch camera, I would definitely recommend the s10 for the faster processor and pictures taken. As for quality, those two are about the same. If you just wish a nice point and shoot, this would be a good model for you.
