Excellent no frills digital for amateurs. The Leica lens, reasonable 5 zoom and 29 mm wide angle lens make great photos possible even for a Novice.
I have more advanced Panasonic cameras with me but the DMC-FS25 is what I always take with me.
I had to buy a panasonic that came out last year to get a cheap pani with a true Leica lens. The cheaper ones from this year have a differant name. And I don't know if they are as good.
First thing I want to say is that if you set this camera at 3 px you can optical zoom out times 9 if in normal zone. That's another reason to buy this camera (or any panasonic, for that matter).
The iA mode is not as good as the iA is in some of the new cameras that came out this year (Sony Tx-7 and Canon Sx201). So I had to learn about ISO and some other settings in normal zone to get the sharpness of my pictures up to stuff. By adjusting the ISO my pictures are as sharp as the tx-7 and the sx201 and the color is far better than the former and equal to ths latter! The flash seems inferior to these other 2 cameras leaving some pictures darker than I like but they also don't come out too light making faces a too washed looking like the other two. This was a good purchase.
I got this camera for replacement to my trusted Canon Sureshot 410.
The pictures are just as good if not better.
I miss the viewfinder on the Canon but I like the the big viewscreen on the Lumix.
The buttons are small but you get use to them quickly.
All in all, a very nice camera.
