Purchased item for my daughter for reading and game/internet use. Battery lasted about 3 hrs a charge and would not charge at all on third day. Cheaply made compared to similar priced tablets. Has Resistive/Pressure Touch Screen. Best World Deals promises to refund. I hope to hear from them soon.
Purchased Polaroid Tablet w/ Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 and a regular touch screen for $89 at Big Lots. Better Wifi, stronger made case for kids use, more apps, and faster processor and memory. Don't make a mistake by buying this item. Check out local stores that have better made Tablets for the same price area that you can see and feel before giving them to your kids to use.
The Pandigital planet tablet that I purchased does what I need it to do.
I needed an ebook reader to work with my text books ( I am a med student studying EKG interpretation and analysis)
Using wyfi I can surf the web, deal with my email and read my text books in ebook fashion. No need to carry a ton of book around. I also use it to take notes in class.
It does not do wireless in the sense of cellular, but I cannot the additional $400-$600 the Apple I pads would cost me or the cost of the wireless subscription required.
The battery life is great but you must remember to hold the on=off button down for 3 seconds and shut the unit down completely.
It does everything the other tablets do but at a cost that a disabled student can afford.
They say you get what you pay for. This item was a very cheap price and I didn't expect much since I already have an Ipod touch and a Samsung Galaxy. I got what I expected. The biggest problem is it needs a very strong WiFi connection to function and my home system was insufficient. I was going to return it since my tablet and Ipod work fine at home but I decided to see if it work at my community college which has a very strong WiFi system. It worked there so I was able to load up some apps and books while I was there to use at home. Once you have books on the Pandigital it works fine as a reader with decent battery life. But forget about email and surfing unless you have a very strong WiFi connection.
I really like my Pandigital Novel. I only wish I had waited for the 4gb version. Larger books, such as anthologies or a study Bible seem to tax the speed of loading, searching, and page turning. It is very easy to add digital content from Barnes and Noble, your public library (if they offer e-books), free e-books that are available on the internet, or your own content. It is also simple to manage and organize your collection.
Awesome product. You can use B&N or your local library to put ebooks on this to read. You can check email, facebook or search the web. Speed is good. No flash for youtube though. Hopefully update later to do that. I did the Novel tablet update without a problem. I havent tried any apps from slideme yet, but a lot are available. Battery life as advertised approx 6 hrs for reading.
