    "A True Classic"

    Review For: Pac-Man (Arcade)

If you grew up in the 1980's, there is nothing like owning your very own Pac Man arcade game. The uprights have classic styling with great side graphics but my personal preference is the cocktail table style models. NAMCO has re-released the dedicated cocktail table version and included Ms Pac Man, Galaga & the original Pac Man.

Another great idea is to buy an Arcade Factory RetroTable. You can search eBay using "Arcade Factory Cocktail Table" to find them. They are a great deal because they are built with a Universal JAMMA connector. Having a JAMMA connector not only allows it to play Ms Pac Man, Galaga & Pac Man, but any JAMMA compatible game board. You can collect all the favorites from the 1980's to extend the fun of your arcade game.

When buying an arcade game on eBay you should use caution. I recommend buying a new game over a refurbished model. Since the original Ms Pac Man games were manufactured in the 1980's the ones still around have old electronics that are prone to problems. Repairs can be costly and parts hard to find. You don't save money in the long run. Look for a new game from a reputable seller with excellent feedback. Look for eBay's Top Rated Seller emblem.

Make sure the game has a warranty of a least a year. Find out what the warranty covers and who backs it up. Make sure the company will be around if you ever need a repair. The Arcade Factory RetroTable is sold with a 5 year warranty covering all parts including the expensive ones, the monitor and main system circuit board.

    ONE BIG THING TO AVOID

Many sellers offer these games with used computer monitors rather than real arcade monitors. Some don't disclose this. Always ask.

Real arcade monitors are built to last decades. The life span of computer monitors or LCDs is only a few years. Buying an arcade game is an expensive investment and you want it to last a lifetime.

Ask plenty of questions and do your research before buying. A low price does not always make it the best buy.

Perfect port of the arcade classic comes to Neo Pocket

You all know Pac-Man, probably the world's most well-known video game character. Chances are you have also played the original Pac-Man at some point in your life as well, either in the arcade or on a console. Well, Pac-Man for the Neo-Geo Pocket color is just that, a perfect arcade port to SNK's short-lived handheld. There are two modes of play, but is really just 2 screen sizes. You can play with the whole screen in view, or scrolling. If you play full-screen, everything is scaled down smaller to fit the NGPC's screen. Either mode is quite playable, but the joystick control can be a little iffy due to its 8 way direction. For example, trying to turn left could result in down, or not at all if you accidentally push the stick in between directions. The full retail version of pack Man for the Neo-Pocket came with joystick rings to allow for sharper 4-way direction, but if you are buying the game on ebay, chances are it will be used, and loos without box or instructions. The game is still playable, but you may need to get used to it a little before you can run the pac-man table like in the arcades. My only real gripe about this game is that while it is an excellent arcade port, I would have liked to see something that would better take advantage of the Neo Geo Pocket's hardware. An enhanced graphics mode or Pac-Man mini games would have been an awesome addition, or even the inclusion of Ms. Pac-Man or Pac-Mania could have made this a must buy title for the NGPC. Instead, I'd only recommend it to the Neo collector or to those die-hard Pac-Man fanatics who need to get their Pac-Fix on the go.

Pac-man -a computer game that defined the standards of video gaming. Really

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

Pac-Man is an all time classic.
More importantly, it is one of the earliest games made available for the new unknown and untested Commodore 64. This computer became the best selling computers of all time (Guiness Book of Records). The never before seen sound and video capabilities of the C64 made the Pac-man video game experience more positive. The character on screen reacts well with the person controlling the joystick or controller. The colours on screen are vibrant and cleverly created, making it easy to concentrate and play without tiring or straining the eyes.
The levels of difficulty allow the player to test their skill against a game layout that quickly becomes familiar.
This game is no less entertaining to play, even against later games like Rambo, Robocop etc which pushed the barriers of game animation towards realism.

    What a game...

Oh man, this game is terrible! This was actually the first game to be preordered, and those who preordered it surely regretted it. I saw this game on G4's top ten worst video games of all time, and I decided to buy it to see how bad it is. The control is pretty bad, its hard to control pacman. Also, its impossible to tell where the ghosts are. They keep flashing and sometimes they'll nail you and you'll have never seen them once. Also, whats up with the maps? I remember the arcade version of the game (which rocked!), but for this game they scrapped those and made their own. They stink! I'd recommend this game if you want a nostalgic moment, but keep in mind, the gameplay sucks.

Its great, but don't blame Atari !

Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

This is a great game! You most likely already have this game. But if not for this system read below
    Pros.
    fun
    cool box
    VERY ESAY to find
    Cons.
Now some people will complane its not like the arcade one. But I won't because I understand they couldn't make it so good on a 4 bit system.

    ghots flickering
on other systems if you don't like this
If you don't like this version you can get the 5200,7800,NES,all the Gameboys,Sega Genesis,SNES,N64,PS1,PS2,PS3,XBOX,and 360.
