PADI Open Water Diver Manual by Professional Association of Diving Instructors (1996, Paperback, Illustrated)

PADI Open Water Diver (teaxtbook) Manual (c) 2010 ISB 978-1-878663-16-9 is the most current edition. It replaced the (c) 1996 Go Dive and (c) 1990 Black windowpane cover editions. All are paperback and include a plastic RDP Dive Tables card. They may come in crewpacks including dive logbook, eRDP, Video, DVD, or CD multimedia.

Each covers safety and necessary diving skills for beginning students. This is a text and not DIY. Product is useful as backup but not current for certification training. RDP is unchanged.

The Most current version is 2.4 dated 10/03. This book is an excellent book that covers all the beginner will need to become a PADI open Water diver. It is also helpful for the experienced diver to serve as a reference or to update an older revision.

I am a PADI instructor and encourage all divers to get current manuals. Standards change on a regular basis as new information is learned and as procedures and equipment improve. While the manuals are only reprinted with changes from time to time, having the most current version is better than older, out of date information. Your instructor can also provide you training updates he or she receives from the certification agency you chose. Finally for those who have been out of the water for a while, for safetys sake, do a refresher in the pool with an instructor before doing open water dives. You'll enjoy your subsequent dives more, you'll be more relaxed and you'll have more fun.

Cant put the book down, as every page has something new to explain in a colourful and hands on way. Makes the art of scuba diving look so simple and adventurous. No doubt that it actually is! But for someone who has even the slightest fear of this marvelous sport, its the ideal companian, as it tucks those fears away and turns it into pure exitement!

great book cost a lot less then buying thru dive shop $38 worth buying used so you can study before you take open water certification.
