Movie synopsis
Scruffy idealist Ned (Paul Rudd) wreaks havoc on the lives of his mother (Shirley Knight) and three sisters, Miranda (Elizabeth Banks), Natalie (Zooey Deschanel), and Liz (Emily Mortimer), while overstaying his welcome in each of their homes and voicing his opinions when they aren't wanted. Organic farmer Ned always looks for the best in everyone, but his unfailing honesty continually lands him in hot water. Arrested for selling drugs to a uniformed police officer, Ned gets the boot from his girlfriend, and mourns losing custody of his beloved dog, Willie Nelson. Fortunately for Ned, his sisters are able to recognize his inherent goodness and give him a place to stay as he struggles to get back on his feet. Meanwhile, Ned's unusual habit of telling the truth often comes at the cost of his siblings' sanity, and before long they're regretting their decision to help him out. But just when it starts to look as if Ned might be the dimmest bulb in the box, a sudden epiphany prompts his entire family to consider the prospect that the world would be a much better place if everyone were as honest as their freewheeling brother. Steve Coogan and Hugh Dancy co-star.

Paul Rudd is a genius, you don't want to miss this one!

Review For: Our Idiot Brother (DVD, 2011)

This isn't your ordinary comedy featuring a dim-wit who wins everyone over with their innocent charm, oh no. In fact, all Paul Rudd seems to do is burden everyone of whom he (in reality) helps. His character is a open, trusting, and extremely naive- yes, I know that sounds repetitive, but watch and you will understand it's not. He loves his dog, Willie Nelson, spending a good amount of time trying to get him back from his crazy, hippie, vegan, pacifist ex-girlfriend and her laid back and friendly new boyfriend. His sisters all have major problems that seem to arise as he comes to stay with them, and they blame him for all of these issues; though in honesty, they're the ones who brought it on themselves all along. I digress. This is definitely not a movie you want to miss. Paul Rudd is on the verge of big things, and 'My Idiot Brother' will surely go down as his breakout performance. If you don't shed a tear or two throughout, than you most likely cannot produce any whatsoever. It'll mess with your emotions in a way you could ever have expected, and to me, that can only be a good thing.

Review For: Our Idiot Brother (DVD, 2011)

Well, lets face it, Ned (Paul Rudd) isn't exactly the sharpest nail in the bag. When you sell weed to a cop in uniform, its pretty clear, you're an idiot. It seems that in almost every family, there is somebody like Ned. They just cant seem to hold a job, or be on time, or just fit in. They seem to always go left when everybody else goes right. Now on probation, he is making the rounds of taking turns living with sisters, Miranda, Natalie, and Liz. Ned is a good-natured sort, but he doesn't know when to shut up, and his habit of always telling the truth often creates more problems than people can deal with. This is a funny movie.
