Publisher's Note
A mother.  A daughter.  A shattering choice.

From Anna Quindlen, bestselling author of Black and Blue, comes a novel of life, love and everyday acts of mercy.

"A triumph."
--San Francisco Chronicle

After caring for her mother during her final, painful battle with cancer, Ellen Gulden discovers many surprising things about her mother's life and finds herself accused of murdering her mother in a mercy killing

The basis of a 1998 motion picture starring Meryl Streep and William Hurt, a New York Times best-seller features a young woman wrongly imprisoned for the mercy killing of her mother. Reissue. Movie tie-in.

Michael Chabon

"It is simply impossible to forget."
Alice Hoffman

A Moving Mother-Daughter Story

Created: 06/10/08
An interesting & moving account of a daughter who grew up in awe of her father while never getting to know her mother until she is forced to take care of her while she is dying of cancer. Well written, certainly held my attention. Would definitely read other books by this author.
