few weeks now and has been underwater. still works and semi HD but not to good video wise and sound wise crap. slow focus. good zoom but makes for crappier picture quality. u have to take a bunch of pictures with different setting but not an issue for me. no shutter speed settings like it said it did instead its automatic and works at night ONLY.
bought this thinking it was a later version of 610, this is still a great camera has all the features except the 3d, great under water, 14 meg pix plus x5 zoom for superior telephoto prints, part of the tough series so accidental drop ok, has the closed shutter which is a plus over some of the other tough cameras helps to keep lens protected, still would recommend 610 over this one unless you can get for 20% less and do not care for 3d feature
This is my second sub-aquatic camera, previous one was an Olympus too, and this camera have a bunch of nice features, like HD video, good low-light shooting, panoramic shot, besides the obvious of being shockproof, waterproof, dustproof and freezeresistant; is the ideal camera to go to the beach and not worrying of salty breeze or sand getting inside the lens. You can go hiking, camping, and I even skydived and BASE jump with this cam attached to my hand. It is an awesome camera if you're into outdoor activities. It has 14Mpxs and 5X optical zoom, that is more than most point-and-shoot cameras pack, well, is not a studio cam, but it will be your favorite partner when grabbing a backpack and heading to the mountains, the forest, the desert or the beach.
BEWARE OLYMPUS RECONDITIONED
After less than 10 min. video and 30 or so stills (mainly to test my new camera and brag about its features) my factory-reconditioned 6020 crapped out. At 120$, it was a steal but, less than a week after the 90-day warranty expired, the camera refused to recognize the fully charged battery or any battery. Throughout this period, despite the cameras freezeproof, waterproof, shockproof ‘abilities’, I coddled this baby. After weeping on the phone to Olympus they said they’d take a look at it and maybe clean the contacts or something. I sent it special UPS (12$-recommended) and after a month of various delays, the service center finally said that they could repair it for 130$. Uh...How ‘bout just cleaning it? NO. Diagnosing? NO. After threatening bad reviews they lowered the price to 73$--as you can see, I’d rather warn you guys.
I have read many reviews before buying this camera, so I am going to be truthful to those of you who are doing the same. You might have read that the camera starts up slow or that is does'nt save the settings or that it acts wierd and blah blah blah. All of these are solvable by adjusting the settings, people just dont read the manuel!
As far as it being water proof, It is!!! I tested it and It's perfect for pictures and video under water!!! I was scared because other reviews stated that water would leak into the battery compartment. To prevent this you have to make sure that there is no hair, debris, or even dust around the seal before you close the battey door.
I highly recommend this camera!!! It's fast has amazing picture quality with hardly any grainyness if the pic is taken right. It has no weak points according to my expeirance. I also love the led light that is built in, it is so bright and useful!!!
