Hi, I purchased my first digital camera 3 or 4 years ago and it was also an Olympus Stylus 700 all weather camera. It has a 7.1 megapixel and a 3x zoom and for the price and all the features I fell in Love with it! ( STILL OWN IT )Now the 9000 I have just purchased is the same experience all over again. So many features with 12 megapixel and 10x zoom at the price range is a no brainer. It takes awesome pictures and if one is bad I have an endless editing software that came with it. The ONLY thing I do not like is at 10x or even less you have better be in a well lighted situation because in doors at my sons B-Day party I could not take pictures at a even minimal distance! Had to be close enough for the flash to help. Other than that it is a nice user friendly camera for the beginner or more experienced camera user. Also the Panorama combined in the camera or on your PC is Totally easy and works perfectly! Look for a Deal Like I Got ( Camera, Case, Battery, Strap, 4GB Memory Card, and cleaning kit for 179.00) Hope this helps someone who is thinking about this particular camera!
My wife and I love this camera! Haha, and so do our family and friends since you can't get it in a retail store near us anywhere. Of course just like anything it takes a bit to learn how it works and we are still doing that with some of the bells and whistles. The zoom on this camera is great. So far we haven't found one thing that wrong with the camera. There is one down side to Olympus cameras BUT it is fixable. The memory card (xD) only goes up to 2GB and the way my wife takes pictures that wasn't going to cut it. The fix: purchase a decent Micro SD card, they come as large as 8GB, and then purchase a Micro SD / xD adapter. The adapter costs less than $10 and it fits perfectly in this carmera.
I purchased this camera after doing TONS of research and came to the conclusion that the specs were very competitive with over cameras on the market and I trust the Olympus name. Not to mention the seller has a fair price and the best return policy on eBay for carmeras.
This camera has it all and it's great! At first I was a little intimidated by all of the features that it offered, but I sat down and read the owner's manual to look through all the menus and features. It only took about an hour to get down all of the features and menus. It is a very smooth, extremely quiet, fully optimized camera.
The price is definitely right on this camera! New features: it has a beauty photo feature that automatically smooths skin tone and reduces the appearance of blemishes and redness. It also offers the panoramic picture setting which is great for landscapes, 360 views of rooms, sunsets, etc. It takes extremely high quality pictures and it's very easy to use. The screen size and the zoom are both great features as well. The screen takes up almost the entire back of the camera. It has a really good optical zoom and also offers digital.
After getting such a great deal on this camera, I was surprised to find all of the great features easy to use, the step by step instruction manual easy to understand and its super easy to transfer pictures onto your PC or to your printer.
I would highly recommend spending the money for this camera!
The following quote is copied from a previous review. It says everything I wanted to say. Saved me a lot of time. The camera is great!
"The ease of macro focusing, the variety of adjusting frame and flash and panorama settings, and the range of features remain excellent. Lighter and thinner than many predecessors, the sturdy 9000 sports a whopping 10x 28-280mm zoom, a USB 2.0 high-speed picture card reader, user-friendly 2.7-inch HyperCrystal III LCD, dual image stabilization, and face detection technology that make this a terrifically high-utility camera in a small, durable package. Optional tabletop tripod, Digital Image Recovery Software, the rechargeable LI-50B Lithium-ion battery, and the storage wallet for multiple memory cards add to the capability of the 9000."
After dropping an earlier version of the Olympus Stylus on a hard floor, damaging the internal lenses, I opted for this new model. The ease of macro focusing, the variety of adjusting frame and flash and panorama settings, and the range of features remain excellent.
