"Nice features, design for its price; 1GB of built-in storage; one-touch movie recording."
"Soft, noisy photos above ISO 200; long shutter lag; ineffective image stabilization."
"The Olympus SP-600UZ is easy on your wallet for a megazoom, but its photos and performance require a lot of compromise."

We needed to get something a little nicer than what we had to take pictures for our E-bay products - we especially needed a good macro feature.
This is all that and more! Its actually almost too much for us - we're still trying to navigate some of the MANY features..of coarse we're no tech specialists!
The only complaint I would have is the battery door is a little wobbly - it may just be this specific camera or it may be a design flaw, but it takes a little time to line up the "door" to get the latch to engage - I worry it may break at some point.
Other than that its a great camera, especially for the price.
Bought camera that looks like their dog got it...needed a front case cover, (which I also found on ebay) total for both $55.00 camera is now like new and a gift for my Mother in Law who desperately needs a camera upgrade! I have another one of these that My Wife uses and loves it. It is easy to use and has HD video...lot's of features and a great lens. I recommend it to anyone who wants something a bit better than a point and shoot!
I loved this camera so much that I bought the company! Well not really, but this is my second one. I bought it for my daughter so she can send me pictures of my grandson and of my future grandaughter when she's born next february.
The clarity of the pictures, even when you use the zoom to the max is EXCELLENT. It maybe only a 12MP, but between you and me, who can see the difference between a 12 and a 14MP. Maybe if I had a 80 inch screen, but my biggest is only 19 inch and I don't need more. My years of getting excited about bigger and bigger, but not really better, are way gone.
The only complaint might be the number of choices in the menu. There are so many thing you can play with, it's mind bogling. But I figure, another 4 or 5 years and I might have the hang of it, or at least of half of them. If like me you're lost in all those choices, just set them all to auto and the camera will decide for you and still give you great results. When you start beeing comfy, play with the settings and you'll find that you can adapt the camera to all kinds of situations. And even after you took the picture, you can play with the size, the color tones, turn it black&white or give it the old picture look. If you like photography, try it!
Like ALL other cameras I saw, the battery door is not the strongest, but then, it is a camera and it is NOT intended to be used with ANY kind of force. Cameras are like women. You use your lightest touch when around them. They're not toys! And you should always be delicate when handling them.
Why did you buy this product?
Needed an upgraded camera with a good zoom. The features and size for the money sold me. I knew that in order to get better pictures, a true glass lens and large footprint would be required. Although it is not pocket size, the zoom is well worth it. Standing well over 25 yards away, with the zoom, still yields crystal clear pictures.
What do you use this product for?
I enjoy going to car shows, as well as a media ministry major. It is used for fun, but also professional outings also.
What do you dislike about this product?
I haven't found any cons yet; however, at the same time I have only had it a month or two and haven't truly experimented with it yet.
Overall this camera is awesome, and I have been used to buying refurbs and just getting a blank box and assuming. I was very pleased to see a true Olympus refurb box and seal. I am looking forward to testing this camera to it's limits.
I bought this camera because I needed a new camera for my amateur photography activities. This Olympus product is very good quality for the money. It is a little heavier than I wanted, but the number of features and picture quality make up for that. My only complaint is the batteries (AA insulated) do not last very long and there is no plug in charger.
