This lens is not a replacement for a wide aperture prime wide angle lense, but it is PERFECT for a single outdoor-use wide angle zoom vs. carrying more than one fixed focus lenses. Get the hood, put on a UV filter and have a CPL filter available and you are all set. Well made, solid, smooth operation. Although it is expensive, it is a cost-effective choice versus other alternatives. I did not appreciate having to purchase a separate hood and storage bag, but watcha gonna do?
I love everything about this lens. Although the price is truly modest for a super wide angle lens it is exceptional in performance and quality. Although some can say that it needs better light....I was amazed at just how steady I could hold this lens at a slow shutter speed. I was also amazed at the sharpness od this lens. If I could compare this to another Olympus lens for sharpness, ease of use and great construction would be with the Olympus 14-54mm. An exceptional lens for a great value. I would not even consider the expensive 7-14mm. This lens give you everything you expect with a super wide angle and is worth every penny!
great lens for trying to capture those incredible vistas on vacation! small, compact, but still excellent quality lens. if you're trying to find something for your pen camera, and you want to get that wide angle experience, this is your lens.

Following the micro 4/3 philosophy, is a lightweight wideangle zoom, an angle of view comparable with a 18-36 equivalent in 135 mm or full frame. The cost difference is much wider than the quality diference, comparing with other micro 4/3 wide zoom as Panasonic too. With this, there is just a little bit more chromatic aberration on edges; a lens otherwise perfect for interior architecture and so on.
I use this lens for my Landscape Architectural shooting without tripod (with E-3)
