The Nokia E73 ( T Mobile - GSM )...
If you have been looking at this phone on E bay you already have the specs ( it uses the same dislay as the e72 & e71 ). The d pad has both electronic optical track pad and direct push button action ( the square raised area is not as smooth to use as a rounded shape that Motorola/Google or LG phones use, but this is a minor issue ).
The 5 MP auto focus camera is GREAT ( Nokia dropped the auto focus in favor of an 8 MP fixed focus in the e 6 series.)...with the auto focus your get a scan feature that puts you a step ahead if you need quick paper document capture.
Adding to all of the above you get great software included... Realplayer to view your Youtube or Daliymotion, MS Office viewer/editor for office on the go, PDF reader ,Flashplayer Lite, a good web browser ( I still like Opera Mobile 12 or Opera Lite 7 for the e73 ).
The front facing VGA camera allows video calls realtime ( dependent upon your carrier and if your using cell mode or WiFi ). Did I mention that you have tethering to your computer for those areas that do not have DSL / Fast internet*** Check with your service provider otherwise they might terminate your service contract.***
The phone is NOT touch screen...to get that move up to the Nokia e 6 . What you do get is WiFi , GPS ( OVI maps free for life +++ not the greatest but it will get you there with full voice features - See Youtube for Examples of Nokia GPS in action +++. The keyboard is curved more than the e72 or e71 and the Bronze/Titanium tone metal case looks good, though the metal back shows finger prints. The keyboard is very easy to read ( This includes the number keys, unlike that of the LG gw300 / 900g -: LG fix this, white on silver is a no go.)
The phone has the great battery that Nokia uses in the E series phones - few phones can last as long. This model charges through the micro usb port and does not use the barrel plug that the e71 & e72 use ( Nokia went back to the barrel style in the e6 ). I miss the IR port that the e71 has but Nokia added a compass and accelerometer in place and always a great stereo bluetooth function and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
This unit has a single LED flash ( Which can be used as a flashlight , through the front keypad )...photos and video are clear and easy to use.
The best part is sometimes the most overlooked...it is a great phone: good signal, clear transmittal, Voice command.
The best part is this can be used with T mobile ( Contract and Pre Paid ) , Net10 ( You buy a SIM card-from Net10 - made specific for T mobile phones for use on Net10 and then use the $50.00 Unlimited 30 day plan ...Net10 uses T mobile & ATT gsm towers, this is how they can offer this option ). The same is available through Straight Talk - Walmarts GSM & CDMA pre paid service - you buy the SIM and use their 30 day Unlimited service priced at $45.00.
Having all the above you get the Symbian OS 9.3, Series 60 v3.2 UI. It does not have as large an App store as Android ...you still get a solid program base , both in games and daily work horse programs.
The phone can use a 16gb micro sd card ( I have used a 32gb Micro sd myself , but Nokia stated 16gb...who am I to dispute Nokia).
If you want a great phone that can match most newer phones, head to head ( Lacking touch screen and a larger display ),the Nokia e series E73 is a great choice and holds it value!!!
Thanks for reading!!!
Built quality is top class with metal back cover
GPS rocks!!! (i put on Garmin but ove is pretty good too)
multitasking done right.
front cam and back camera are great!
keyboard is built perfectly
flashlight using the camera flash by just pressing the space key
almost month battery life, i forget when was the last time i charged it.
freedom to CONTROL your phone unlike apple and android. with Nokia you can put whatever on your phone with ease. It has all capability.
there are much more reasons but my hand would get sore writing em. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
Amazing battery life, loud and crystal clear calls, service coverage is exellent, and the stainless steel battery cover and band gives the handset a solid sturdy feel even with the extremely thin profile.
Only drawback is the lack of support for Symbian anymore. Features and items are buried in menus, and overall, the phone can sometimes lock up for a brief moment due to its low amount of RAM (128MB).
In the end, it's a GREAT starter phone for anyone wanting to try out a smartphone that is budget friendly and extremely durable. Also, the killer battery life will carry you along for days. (About 3 on average, 4 if using the Power Save option overnight).
Excellent Phone. Loaded with features. Super build quality, great QWERTY keypad, superb battery life, decent UI, 5mp camera with flash etc. It has all the features of a great smartphone and it performs very well. Call quality is amazing, no ddropped calls etc. No issues with the UI as well, no lag etc. All in all a very solid phone which is real cheap. Must buy.
I love this phone, the battery life is so long it's amazing how they do it. The only drawback is I can't figure out how to download my contact from my T-mobile sim card to the phone but I figured out how to download my old texts if I want to retrieve them. If someone knows please let me know. The design is great, the phone is sturdy and doesn't slip out of my hands like the iphone does, I don't like to type on the screen so the keypad works great for me and feels good to the touch :)
