|With 52 brilliant colors simultaneously displayed on Game Boy Color's small portable screen, your games look better than ever! Full color portable gaming is an awesome advance, but Game Boy Color does more than improve the appearance of your games. Game Boy Color is twice as fast as the regular Game Boy, which allows programmers to crunch more data and produce more sophisticated games. For you, this means faster action, more advanced AI, and increased realism. But you don't have to go out and buy all new games to enjoy playing in color! You can play any of the 450 original Game Boy titles, and Game Boy Color will transform them to color from black and white! When you put a pre-existing Game Boy game into Game Boy Color, you will be able to choose from one of twelve default color palettes on the Game Boy Color start-up screen. New games designed specifically for Game Boy Color are sharper and even more vivid than colorized black and white games, with a full spectrum palette of more than 32, 000 colors. Game Boy Color is compatible with both the Game Boy Camera and the Game Boy Printer.|

About a week ago I have received my Gameboy Color and I was quickly brought back to my days of my youth. The portability, wide variety of Gameboy Color games to choose from and the ability to play 1st generation Gameboy games makes this a must have. The sceen has no backlight, four buttons and one directional pad, volume control, standerd headphone jack, longer battery life(compared to fast draining devices) and the range of diffirent colors to choose from makes this a great gift or a trip down memory lane. A MUST for all those who enjoy Nintendo!
Portable and easy even for casual gamers, the Gameboy Color is a great item. I purchased one to play some older games that I never got a chance to play because I never owned a GBC. The GBC is smaller than the orginal GB, without sacrificing screen size. It can also play any existing GB title. The one drawback is the color screen isn't backlit, so the system can be hard to play in low light conditions. Overall, much better than the original Gameboy, not as good as a DS.
The GameBoy Color was the successor to the standard GameBoy. This was a testament to the original as it lasted roughly 10 years, and its only aesthetic difference was to upgrade the screen to full colour.
It was available in, as Nintendo marketed them as, six 'tasty' colours: Teal, Kiwi, Grape, Berry, Dandelion and Atomic Purple.
Newer versions of the system have been produced powered by 2 AA batteries which last for approximately 10 hours. This GameBoy Color actually had significant improvements to the original GameBoy. It was twice as fast, as well as 'increased realism'.
The GameBoy continued to dominate the handheld console market, and this version consolidated their position.
It may be "old school", but this hand-held game system plays like a champ. With hundreds of them up for auction, how do you choose which one to buy? I'm sure each person has certain things they are looking for when trying to decide which one to buy. For me, I wanted one in pristine condition at a good price. The thing I like about the Gameboy Color is that there are many colrs to choose from. There are endless games for it as well, and they are pretty easy to come by and inexpensive. Even a an adapter only runs about $10.00. My choice in the end was a dandelion yellow. It came with a box and instuctions and a game. There are a few things to look for when purchasing one. The condition of the system, in most cases, reflects in the price given. For example, there might be a red gameboy for $5.00, but the screen is scratched and it's missing the battery cover. Very important, always ask questions if you are not sure what the system has on it. Always ask the condition of the screen, the sound, and if the battery cover is intact if it isn't mentioned in the description. I know I could go out and get the latest DS Lite, but the system and games are expensive. This is the perfect system for someone with limited funds. You can get accessories for it at a great price. You could get a case, games, an adapter, a light, a camera or even a printer for this system. All in all, if you can find one that meets your criteria, then by all means, get a Gameboy Color. It's a great gift for a great price.
Love the nostalgia for this thing. The original gameboy series. It will bring back a ton of memories. It has no backlight which sucks so it is hard to play, but if you just want it for the memories, just get one at a cheap price. If you really NEED one, I'd recommend getting the gameboy advance or advance sp. It is only a few dollars more and is backwards compatible so it plays the original gameboy games and is a lot cheaper than the DS series.
