CNET Editors' review

Good
  • THE GOOD

Adds two larger screens; two 0.3-megapixel cameras; a bit thinner than the DS Lite; exclusive access to the DSi Shop for downloadable games and applications.

  • THE BAD

No longer supports Game Boy Advance games; lower battery life than its predecessor; Internet security settings are buried and confusing.

  • THE BOTTOM LINE

While not all previous DS owners should upgrade, the DSi is an ambitious and solidly designed portable gaming system.

Don't But The New Nintendo DSI ~ Get The DSI Lite

Created: 10/24/09
Nintendo DS Lite is a much better product. You can download games to the memory card from the internet for free, and Nintendo stopped your ability to do that with the newer version Dsi. Good for greedy Nintendo because now you have to buy every last game from them. Bad for the owner. My daughters friend has about 20 games her day downloaded free for her on the memory card and my daughter has 2 games. The memory card in the new DSi is useless. All it will do is store pictures. I'm thinking about re-selling this DSi and getting the DS Lite. Its not the newest version but newer isn't always better. I bought it because it is the latest version and though it would be the best. I wish now I had never got it. It isn't worth the kind of money they're asking for it. All it is, is a DS Lite that Nintendo has altered to keep you from using the features without getting monetarily soaked for every little thing when you go to use it. Stay away from this trick bag albatross!

Better then DS Lite!

Created: 09/08/10
My boys have the DS Lites so I was skeptical at first as to why we need to upgrade. I got one for the 10 year old and immediately I could see the difference. They were taking pictures and videos of each other and the rest of the family. Soon the 7 year old started begging for one and I got it for him. They are the envy of the neighborhood.
As the parent, I am happy they play the regular DS games so I don't have to pay for new ones and the original stylus. I don't appreciate the change of the charger though. That is the only negative for me. I think this is a good transitional way for the kids to learn to use the internet and become responsible consumers.

Nintendo DSi

Created: 01/26/11
Both of my children love their Nintendo DSi game systems. My daugher, who is 7 now, got hers for Christmas 2009 and has played with it almost daily since. It is easy to use and has so many games that you can get to play. The DSi also has a camera and music player that you can load songs from your PC and then edit them somewhat. The DSi has an internet feature and can also send message to another DSi in the same room/area with pictochat. There may be additional features as well that we haven't used.

My daughter taught our now three-year old son how to play the DSi. He was disappointed when Santa brought him a Leapster Explorer this past Christmas so I recently bought him one on eBay and plan to sell the Leapster. He loves to play Super Mario and MarioKart.

DSi- love it

Created: 05/18/10
My son is 9 and loves it. He has had a DS in the past but never a DSi. He likes the camera fun and all of the other cool stuff the DSi has. His is blue. Like color because it easy to see. Size is good for child or adult to play. Matte finish is nice to have to avoid any scratches.

Good videogaming system

Created: 12/02/10
I like this system. You can go on Internet, play games, make pictures, play music etc. it's small and light so its easy to take it with you anywhere.
Cons- it's easy to break. It is not well nmade system and if you drop it most likely it will quit working
