|Nintendo was founded as a card company in late 1889, originally named Nintendo Koppai. However, Nintendo's first venture into the video-gaming industry was securing rights to distribute the Magnavox Odyssey video game console in Japan in 1974. Since then, Nintendo has produced uniquely crafted handheld and portable entertainment systems to the industry. The Nintendo DS Teal Handheld System manages to pack a lot fun into a small, slim body. The two LCD screens on the Nintendo DS combine crisp, punchy colors, along with touch-screen technology on the lower screen. The screens on this video game system are backlit, three-inch, transmissive TFT color LCD with 256 x 192-pixel resolution and 0.24 mm dot pitch, capable of displaying 260,000 colors. The Nintendo DS Teal Handheld System features a wireless communication range of 30 to 100 feet, depending on circumstances. Multiple users can play multiplayer games using just one DS game card. Besides the touch screen, controls on the Nintendo DS include an embedded microphone for voice recognition, A/B/X/Y face buttons, plus control pad, L/R shoulder buttons, Start and Select buttons. By using a Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector or a wireless router, you can connect to DS players across the globe, and enjoy fun abound. This video game system includes ports for both Nintendo DS game cards and Game Boy Advance game paks, and terminals for stereo headphones and microphone. A removable cover for the Game Boy Advance game pak slot provides added protection from dust and other foreign materials. Nintendo DS Teal Handheld System comes bundled with Nintendogs Best Friend Edition. This game was only bundled with this particular collectible system, which makes the game by itself extremely collectible as well.|

This is a special edition Nintendo DS bundled with Nintendo's highly successful virtual pet video game, Nintendogs, as well as other goodies to get newbie Nintendo gamers started on the road to great portable gaming.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with this system, with it's metallic blue finish, touch screen, and ergonomic design, it's just like it's regular DS brethren . But there-in lies a complaint. Aside from the unique color, there isn't anything different about this from any other first model DS. No specialty software has been added, and at a glance, it's a regular system.
The specialness of this package is somewhat dampened by the fact that it's only identifying characteristics come in the form of stickers that you attach to the front and top screen of the system's casing. Kind of lazy in comparison to other special edition units like the Zela: Phantom Hourglass system, Mario Kart DS unit, or Pokemon system that actually had fine designs engraved on the casing.
But other than that, it's still a Nintendo DS, and there's no possible objections to that... except for maybe that this is a first model, and nowadays we have the smaller Nintendo DS Lite, the multimedia DSi, and the system with the biggest and best screens of all, the DSi XL.
I bought the original ds for my son...the original ds is great to have because with the DSI it is nice to have a back up system that can still play the game boy advance games. The other nice thing is that it is really sturdy and hard to break.
Great item. Bought used, but in excellent working condition. Great quality electronic. Love the touch screen and options. Battery life is very long, and love the ability to purchase parts for this at the nintendo website. Nintendo definitely makes a durable and great product.
Game system was sold as Best Friends bundle, but really only got the system and charger. System works fine, has minor problem with part of hinge broken. Got the game for my kids to play and they love it, so for me this was a good investment.
