The Nintendo DS Lite is slimmer and much sleeker that the original DS. The device employs innovative dual-screen and microphone-enabled gameplay as well as Wi-Fi multiplayer capabilities, allowing for a growing list of original and fun games that you can't play on any other system. In addition, the system is backward-compatible with almost every GBA title. All these additions come without increasing the price or decreasing the features of the original DS.
Playing online games via Wi-Fi can be a hassle. The darker models are just as susceptible to scratches and smudges as the Sony PSP and the iPod, and its multimedia potential remains exclusive to Japan.
With a slick new design, brighter screens, and a growing library of fun and innovative games, the Nintendo DS Lite is an impressive improvement over the original DS.

The good: The Nintendo DS Lite is slimmer and much sleeker that the original DS.
The bad: Playing online games via Wi-Fi can be a hassle. The darker models are just as susceptible to scratches and smudges as the Sony PSP and the iPod, and its multimedia potential remains exclusive to Japan. Only backwards compatable with Nintendo Advance games!
The bottom line: With a slick new design, brighter screens, and a growing library of fun and innovative games, the Nintendo DS Lite is an impressive improvement over the original DS.
The Nintendo DS Lite is fairly compact, can easily fit in an adult size pocket, yet it still packs a lot of gaming punch. The design is simple, yet stylish. These things are durable and made to last, that's one of the great things about Nintendo products. The built in rechargeable battery pack, and included charging cable, will ensure you will always have the power needed to run the DS without having to continuously buy new batteries.
There is a HUGE library of games for the DS, so virtually every type of gamer will be satisfied with the selections. However, the only down side is the cost of the games adds up quickly! Newer or popular games range from $30 - $40, so get 10 of these and your paying an average of $350! But fortunately there are many games in the $10-$20 range, and many used games for sale in games stores or right here on ebay!
I still think that this is the best handheld model that Nintendo has ever come out with!!! Not to big, not to small, just right!!! Buttons in easy places to use without cramping up the fingers. play gba & ds games with this system, the newer version of this (eg dsi) only allow you to play ds games, but with this console you can play all the games you loved on the gba!!! Not as bulky as the original ds but still weighty enough to carry around without having to look like a nerd with a big old thing in your pocket. This system, even with all the new systems coming out, will always get a perfect 5/5 from me. At the price you can get this at, it is a MUST HAVE!!! I would recommend this product over and over and over again to anyone looking for a nice handheld gaming device.
The Nintendo DS is absolutely amazing for fun. It keeps my daughter and even my self thinking and playing adventurous well thought out games. However, the craftsmanship of the DS is rather chintzy. This is our 4th purchase in 4 years. We even bought a replacement case. The hinges are junk. They crack, get loose and then the DS breaks. They are not very resistant to accidental droppings and for a child's game console, you would think it could handle a 1 foot drop on carpet. You would also think the price could come down since new and improved consoles have surfaced. We purchased 2 new ones and 2 used ones. They all work the same and have the same lifespan. Just recently bought a new shell and screen to reassemble and try to save some money. Money saved, but what a pain to put it all back together! Not for the mechanically deficient. If you can't use a soldering iron, do not attempt. I give this an average to below average rating on durability, an excellent rating for fun, and a poor rating for your wallet.
This DS has everything.
I'm the biggest fan of the touch screen. And it is more durable than I'd expected. My little nephew loves to play with and if he hasn't broken it, it must be tough (he's two).
I love the two screens. I thought it would be confusing because I wouldn't know where to look, but it turns out that it isn't confusing at all, and I prefer it to the one screened Game Boy SP. The screens are bright and easy to see in the dark.
I love the selection of games too. There are games for all ages. And THE NEW SUPER MARIO BROTHERS is terriffic. They spruced up the original Mario for those of us who prefer the moving left to right action.
This is the perfect system
