|With impressive 3D rendered graphics, Nintendo DS delivers portable games for fans of any genre. Plus, you can play all your favorite Game Boy Advance games in a single-player mode. With Nintendo DS in electric blue, dual screens and touch-screen technology allow you to interact with games like never before. Wireless communication allows you to experience real-time multiplayer game play, while built-in PictoChat software gives you the power to draw, write and send messages wirelessly. Nintendo DS revolutionizes the way games are played. Two LCD screens offer one of the most groundbreaking game play advances ever developed. Imagine the possibilities. In a racing game, you might see your own vehicle's perspective on one screen and an overall track view on the other. Soon, games could be created allowing you to play games on one screen while sending text messages on the other. The lower screen offers something never before provided by any dedicated game device: touch-screen capabilities. You no longer have to rely on just buttons to move your character or shift perspectives. Navigate menus or access inventory items simply by touching the screen with a stylus or fingertip. The possibilities are limited only by developers' imaginations. The touch screen features a tougher film cover for durability, and the included stylus is stored in the back of the unit.A built-in microphone port means that with Nintendo DS, you only need to tell your games what to do. Developers could create games, which identify everything from voice commands to hand clapping. Imagine moving your characters simply by telling them which way to go! Communication-based games could use the microphone and you can chat with others over a local network, or even the Internet in the future. The Nintendo DS microphone gives you even more ways to interact with your favorite games. What's more, by using a Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector or a wireless router, you can connect to DS players across the globe, and enjoy fun aboundNintendo DS sound capabilities allow for greatly expanded use of voices and music, and a richer, more immersive game experience. Stereo speakers allow for virtual surround sound and a plug for headphones transmits stereo sound. Hear something in your left headphone? Audio clues can give you advance warning that an enemy is approaching or that a hidden secret is nearby. Sound can be one of the most immersive components of any video game, and Nintendo DS delivers big sound in a small package.|

The Nintendo DS employs innovative dual-screen and microphone-enabled gameplay without load times on a higher-resolution display than Game Boy Advance SP while remaining backward compatible with older GBA games. The inclusion of Wi-Fi multiplayer capabilities and a touch screen allows for a growing list of original and fun games that you can't play on any other system.
"Third-party support for the system hasn't matched the originality and ingenuity of Nintendo's games, and multimedia potential remains exclusive to Japan. The system is quite bulky. The much more stylish and comfortable DS Lite is available for the same price."
"While it lacks the multimedia and graphical finesse of the Sony PSP, the feature-packed Nintendo DS is a worthy successor to the Game Boy Advance--but the new and improved DS Lite is available for the same price."

Great system, two in one! (Sort of) Game Boy Advanced games, and Nintendo DS. It's a shame they discontinued the white ones. I really don't have anything negative to say, but I am not an avid gamer. WAAAAY smaller than the original DS, that's a great innovation, the DSi is much smaller, but the camera feature is okay, I mean it's almost as good as a 2.-something megapixel camera, so I'd stick with the DS lite.
Both of my kids (ages 4 and 9) each have a DS. They love to do battles and write back and forth to each other, so the wireless feature is a huge plus - they can both easily play the games and I love the fact that it plays both DS games as well as Gameboy games - more options that way!
On to the negatives - I think that the hinge that holds the upper and lower portions together is cheap - though they have not personally broke theirs, you can really hear them when you open and shut them and they just feel like they are cheap - not very sturdy. Also, the stylus pen is great because you need it for some games, but it should have some sort of feature where you can attach it to the DS so it can't be lost (even though you can buy them separately and they are pretty cheap, it is still annoying!) Also, though we have not personally had any problems with them - the screens - a lot of people seem to break and or scratch them - I know you can purchase protectors separately but why not have them come with the DS if it is common enough of a problem that you have to make them to begin with!
Even with the little flaws - if my kids' stopped working, I probably would buy them another one - they really like them and I like all of the color options - they both have a different color and I just bought one for my mom for Christmas (so she will stop taking theirs) in a different color yet - so that way at a glance we know whos is whos and there is not fighting!
I needed a game for a boy in the dominican republic who only spoke spanish. the seller put together a custom cartridge containing many spanish language games and a spanish to english tutorial. The electric power is sketchy at best in this country, and the game has a battery life of up to 14 hours with a 4 hour charge timeI'm hoping all the features will live up to my expectations. I will know better after he has played it for a while
I purchased one of these for my hospital stay and enjoyed having it.My 6 year granddaughter loved playing with mine all the time. That was all she talked about to her Mom.She received one for her 7th birthday from me and now we play and 'talk' together when she is here. This is well worth the money.Good for all ages.I am 73 and granddaughter is now 7. Wide verities of games to fit everyone's taste and budget.I say 'go for it"
i love the color the options it had and i chose to buy it because of everything built in such as wi fi and camera. it is light weight and easy to take anywhere such as on the road or to a dr office to keep my daughter entertained,
