I have three different brands of zoom lenses within the range from 28mm to 135mm. Which is best? Clearly, this Nikon Nikkor 35mm to 105mm zoom. Crisp, clear focusing is resolved quickly and easily in the split-screen camera prism. Action is smooth, and well damped. Aperture clicks are smooth and solid (no flex in the ring). No other brand of lens measures-up to this level of quality.
Great lens for portait work(105) and wide(35mm) to normal(55mm),not low light(f3.5-4.5) fast but with bounce flash, or VERY steady grip you can shoot 400asa film in moderate light. I also use for night shooting with tripod on B setting 1-inf sec. VERY SHARP good depth of field. Not an ED (f2.8) lens, but close for those on budget.Almost as good as lieca lens for alot less cost. After shooting film for 40 plus years Ive found nothing beats nikkor. Cept maybe expensive Leica (rangefinder m-series lens.
To begin, this lens has superior image quality. When zooming it stays sharp all the way through. The only disadvantage is the weight. I have an Olympus Pen epl-1 and the lens it difficult to carry with the camera. All in all it is a pretty nice camera.
Fantastic lens. It provides flexibility from 35mm to 105 with very nice clarity through out.
I have used this lens to photograph landscapes... in bright sunny days. No, problem with over exposure.
Now given the age of this type of lens it is built to last.
