Nikon ProStaff 3-9x40 Matte BDC Rifle Scope

This is my 6th Nikon BDC scope and have used them to bag game out to 550 yards so far. The optics are clear and the scopes are light.If you want to take out the guess work, Use a BDC!

overall a good scope i saw it on the outdoor channel and had to have one and since i just bought my new rem 750 thought it would be a perfect combo i did not have it bore sighted and was on 100 yard paper in 2 shots i was impressed it is a inch high at 100 yards cant seem to get it down that last inch but for killing deer its great i shot 2 deer so far this 2011 season and it has put the bullet where i aimed and this scope has great low light vizability i shot one deer right as he sun was going down and dropped it easy to focus and great eye relief space this is a 5 star scope and a great edition to any rifle ohh and the bdc retical works at 2 and 300 yards im in a 2"x2" spot havent tested the 4 5 600 yards yet but i did spend time on nikons spot on website to get the right bullet to perform at the right ranges on the bdc and who knew the fed fusions were almost half the price of fed premiums so i saved money and got the right bullet for my bdc 2 3 4 5 600 yards hope this helps a fellow hunter or any shooter Thanks

This is a very nice scope for the money. Crystal clear optics. Excellent for distances from 100 to 500 Yds. BDC is helpful for the long distance shoots. Light weight, clear optics, very durable and made for a center fire cartridge concussion. The pros outweigh to cons. I would give this scope a B++. The only reason the Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40 doesn't get an A rating is the magnification operation is stiff or tight. You have to take your eye off target to adjust the magnification. Hopefully it will become easier with regular use and break in time.

For the price range, this is an excellent scope. This is probably overkill on many lighter guns, such as 22 rifles, though it can't hurt, but is perfect for 30-30, 306, 308, AK-47, SKS, Mosin Nagant, and other rifles that have a powerful recoil, this scope has excellent optics, great accuracy, and can take heavy recoil.

The BDC reticle makes it easy to compensate for ballistic drop. Overall, I highly recommend this and most other Nikon scopes. There are even better scopes out there, but for what you spend, these give an optimal performance and quality, without being too expensive.

For best results, combine this with good rings.

I like the scope for the BDC reticles also had reasonable price of $139.00. It made a good addiciton to the set of BDL rifles I have.
