Incredible value- great wide angle- feature packed- true pocket camera!

I had the COOLPIX S3100 before this one.
Both deliver on ease of use and features. Only 2 negatives come to mind and are excusable for just the hundred bucks I spent. 1)the camera starts up fast from 'off' position, but when it goes into a 'sleep' mode it takes longer to restart! So, just turn it off. 2) the images when blown up ( to like 30x40 inches)shows artifacts and lack of edge sharpness. You'll never see it on a post card size print or and 8x10 even. So, don't do professional weddings!

This truly is a pocket camera. You don't need the 16 megapixels- you won't blow it up to 40 inches. I have reduced it to an 8 megapixel setting with no noticeable loss of quality, but more ease of transferring smaller files to Craigslist, Photobucket, etc. (I may go smaller yet and it would take a year to fill up a SD card).

I use the menu wheel on the back a lot. You can easily push the right side of it to increase or decrease the exposure (light or dark). Press the top part and you can turn the flash on or off (a couple of different ways). Press the bottom part and you are in close-up mode (some things shouldn't be seen that close!) Press the left side for shutter delay- 2 or 10 seconds.

It will focus fast and select out faces, but then for landscapes you can go into the menu and reset the AF (auto focus) settings, or get it out of focus sometime- but then most of these point and shoots do that- at least you can get some focus control and exposure control and easy framing control.
Did I mention the main reason I got this one? The framing you can do with the wide angle. (about like a 27mm lens in 35mm format). Quite wide for a point and shoot. Plus it has a 6x zoom feature.
It seems sharp at both wide and long focal lengths.
The chargeable battery lasts for a hundred pictures easily. 200 really, but I use the flash and the viewfinder a lot.
I took this little guy to So. America instead of my trusty Canon 40D (which is better in it's own ways)because I did not want to lug around the extra weight (or worry about it getting stolen).
This 3300 also has a decent enough lens to shoot sunsets with out a bunch of flare and artifacts. Stays sharp even misused.
Oh, it does movies, too. Haven't used it much, but it is readily accessible with its' own button.
This is my 6th small camera and the best for the bucks so far.
An Olympus died at 6 months last year- I had gotten that one for the wide angle, also. A 5 year ol Canon Sureshot 3megapixel still functions- very tough but seriously outdated.

I just got this camera yesterday and have been taking pictures in all different kinds of lighting.
This camera has done great in even a dark room.I am very pleased with how quiet it is which
will be great when shooting video's.Haven't been able to get a great super close up yet but
I think that is due to my lack of understanding on just how to use all the functions of the camera
just yet.I'm not a professional photographer but as a capture every moment mom of two I have
taken thousands upon thousands of pictures.I've been through many camera's (Samsung,Kodak,Fuigi)
to name a few none have come close to the quality of picture of this Nikon.I am very happy
with this camera so far.I love how compact it is and the fun colors it comes in.

I really like my new Nikon COOLPIX S3300 digital camera.

Very happy with the compact size of this newer (S3300) model improved over a COOLPIX that I have owned for several years now. My older version was powered by two AA batterys while this model has a single rechargeable battery. Not too sure of the life of the battery yet, so I have purchased two backup rechargeables to make sure that I have enough capacity. I will probably find out the battery life this summer. My older version has performed flawlessly for over four years and expect this one to be as good if not better as a Nikon should be. Excellnat picture quality, easy downloading to a file or computer and very easy to use. Ths smaller size probably will require a little more care to not misplace?

You get SO much for less $$. Truly great product.

- Why you bought it: I needed a new camera to show better quality photos of items I sell as well as the custom things I make. My phone's camera just was not up to the job. I had bought a camera boasting that it was 12mp and it shot like a 2mp camera. After a while, I caved again and decided to go with this one. I am glad I bought it. The picture quality is amazing for a point and click camera. I give it a 4/5 because its not DSLR.

- What you like most about it: I like it's features. Auto scene detect is spot on 90% of the time as well as it's adjusters.

- What you dislike about it: Sometimes the blur detection doesnt work and tell you a photo came out blurry and sometimes the auto scene selector doesn't do its job. However, that's just nitpicking because it happens so rarely.

- Whether or not you would buy the product again: If for some reason this camera breaks, which isn't too far of a stretch because I am a klutz and accident prone, I would totally invest in getting another.

it was a gift for my wife and she loves it. purple is her favorite color and Nikon coolpix is a great camera i bought her one before and it was stolen so i replaced it. Its a great product for a very inexpensive price the megapixels is incredible the Adorama company is great company and i look forward to doing business with them again. This product is must have foyer anybody needing a reliable digital camera at an cheap sorry I'm rambling but they won't let me submit this without a huge paragraph
