I am writing a review for the Asus Nexus 7 16GB (Wi-Fi) tablet which has been with me for a couple of weeks now. This tablet is about the best affordable tablet you can buy. Its low price tag for a full Android experience with the latest version and a quad-core processor are perhaps its main selling points. While not as feature-rich as most 10-inch tablets, its 7-inch form factor is very handy and with its high resolution IPS display, it does many of the tasks that can be done with other bigger tablets. It has a built-in microphone and front-facing camera for video conferencing but has no rear camera which does not bother me. I wished though it had a micro-SD card slot for additional storage space and a mini-HDMI port for watching videos on a big screen that other tablets have but that's okay for the low price. For additional storage, you can hook it up to a USB mass storage device via its micro-USB connector and a USB OTG cable with an app (or by rooting the device). You can also connect other devices to it via the OTG cable. It does have built-in Bluetooth connectivity and also a GPS receiver and digital compass which are convenient while travelling. Touch response is sensitive and with its quad-core processor, overall performance has not been a disappointment at all. The operating system has also been very stable so far with a more polished interface than previous Android versions I have experienced before. The build quality is excellent and its slim profile and rubbery back cover makes holding the device comfortable. The placement and feel of its buttons are also comfortable to me.
A problem that I initially had with this device was it won't boot up or charge without plugging in the AC adapter. I later found out after doing some research that the battery connector could be loose, which was indeed the case with my brand new unit. It was a quick fix by securely plugging the connector into its socket (after having removed the back cover from the right side with my fingernails). I had to also reseat the battery properly in place so that it does not anymore pull away the connector from its socket. This might have been the cause. After that fix, I could not find another issue with this device. I installed a screen protector and a protective case right after I received the device.
Overall, I'm pleased with the Nexus 7 and there's little to dislike about this small but powerful device. This is a better device than a similar 7-inch tablet I previously had which has a customized version of Android that didn't work well for me.
First, I will not compare this android tab to a ipad!!! Thats just stupid, IMO. Oranges and apples. One thing is all apple stuff cost more for comparable products. I dont buy over priced apple products.
Ok as for the Android tabs, this one is a winner. The new processor is lightening fast!!! I multitasked, played Netflix, and loaded the thing and its speed held great. Its touch is very responsive. Its res is great too. For the buck, 249, at most department stores and electronic stores, it beats the competitors. The only way to get better is to pay more.
There is no expansion slot but with 16 gigs its not really needed. You can Mini-USB it to pc for file transfer with no prob.
It rotates to landscape with no need for an app.
Jelly bean is a winner and all new Androids have it so that doesn't need a review. The tablet is made well. It feels sturdy in the hand. The off button and volume are located nicely on the side but toward the edge so they dont get in the way.
Its a small tablet with a small voice so sound isnt great. The speakers are tiny and dont carry much.
But...plug in quality earbuds and the sound is great!!! MP3's sound the same as on my Sony MP3 player. Streaming movies are clear and sound fine.
The tablet streams youtube and netflix with no problem at all.
There is no rear camera. I dont know how the front facing camera is because I never use it. I didnt buy it to take pics nor to use it as a webcam.
Being a google approved product apps are not an issue. Once you change your permissions in settings for other apps, it excepts Amazons apps too.
The battery is good. About 3-4 hours video streaming, heavy web surfing and downloading, a good 6 with web off, playing games and reading. (Turning off the auto brightness helps save battery. Indoors I keep it adjusted to extremely low and only manually crank it for outside.)In sleep mode, I don't know how long the battery last as it barely moves after hours of sitting. I haven't had it sleeping long enough to compute it. It moves a little sitting over night but not enough to matter.
Wifi is great!! Gets a full signal from my router better than my xoom. My xoom will have a partial full signal icon while my nexus has a fully filled signal icon, at the same distance from the router. It finds the signal quick too when I turn it on after having it off. No lag.
I like that its uses mini to reg USB for charging as any phone AC charger works too. No need for special cords. It also charges connected to a netbook, laptop, or pc.
The feeling in your hand is nice. The back isnt slippery, it has just a little bit of grip(texture), enough to help hold yet be smooth, but not slick. I never feel like it will slide out of my hands. Its weight is fine to me. Not so light it feels like hollow cheap plastic junk and not to heavy it feels like a brick. To me its just right.
So for 199 and the processor it has and the gigs....its a big bang for the buck.
I cant find anything neg with this tablet.
If you want tv hook up and a ton of extra frill then plan to spend a lot more money for a tablet pc like the larger xoom, thrive, or galaxy. For the basic 7in tablet, this one beats the rest in the line.
Awesome tablet, the newest 4.1 Android, powerful hardware, nice IPS display, rigid well-made case, very long battery life (300 hours standby, 9 hours of HD video).
7 inch size makes it very easy to get it around - it fits in pockets, and is quite light.
No alternatives for that money ( around 280 usd with shipping).
Can work as awesome car GPS navigator - get yourself a car mount.
Two downsides - no SD card slot (which is very easy for manufacturer to make) and no rear-facing camera. 3G would be nice too, but you can always tether from your smarfphone.
* A good, clear and bright display
* The tablet is easy to hold with one hand in a horizontal orientation, and vertical
* Long battery life. I used it during the day: playing, reading, "surf" the Internet, listening to music. If you're not a zombie maniac in these matters, then a day in such circumstances the device will work easily.
* Rear socket SoftTouch. In the hands take and just so there is a solid (:
* Front camera for video calls (Skype running fast!)
* Google's assistant and the associated voice search. This is not Siri, no. This shows
-The weather in your current location
Corks before traveling to or
-Upcoming Events
-Rate of the country where you are (in relation to the rate of domestic currency)
-Time at home, while the country in which are
-Information about the upcoming flight

The whole thing is based on previous search queries and unobtrusively appears in the notification bar. Option off, I did not find.
* Finally, the same can take screenshots of the OS! We hold the power button and volume down 1 second.
* 2 microphone. I understand that if it is so, and so you keep - you can hear it always was. Well, almost a stereo or something? (You can keep both the microphone will be open. One left, the other from the top)
* The display holds 10 touches simultaneously
* 1 GB of RAM DDR3
Quickly flipping through photos from your camera shestimegabaytnye
* NFC, which, coupled with the number of reads Yandeks.Metro remaining trips on the card subway. On the same principle, using the same technology you can transfer files via Android Beam.
The manual has been written that you can connect wireless gadgets such as the keyboard, mouse, and other bluetooth devices.
I was looking for a device that would allow me to browse the web, watch videos and things like that without having to switch on my computer and that coiuld be easily carried around. A tablet was obviously the best solution for me. But which one ? There are so many models out there...
After checking a few reviews, I found this Google Nexus 7 tablet. I was seduced by its look. This tablet has a very simple finish, with the rubber back makes it very comfortable to handle. Its form factor and weight is perfect, its held with one hand. As for the performance, the tablet runs on a quadcore NVIDIA Tegra 3 CPU, the user experience is thus very smooth and pleasant. Moreover, it runs the lastest version of android, jely bean 4.2 and there is no manufacturer's UI on top of that which provides a pure android experience and easier to get updates as soon as they are available.
However, one drawback is that the tablet doesn't have a built-in expansion slot for memory storage. With 16GB of internal memory, it gets rapidly out of storage space. You must therefore manage that wisely. The battery life doesn't last long when gaming.
Whether it be for browsing the web, watching videos, reading or playing video, the Asus Google Nexus 7 has what it takes to deliver the goods and all wrapped up will smoothness and quality!
