Mind Expanding

I purchased this unabridged CD because I wanted to fill in the time I spend in the car driving with entertainment other than music and radio talk shows. I chose this book because I have knowledge of Eckhart Tolle from his DVD lectures. I have not read his written form of communication, and because I imagined the reading would be difficult, I chose to have the words read to me first. I end up driving to work a little earlier, sitting in my car a few extra minutes, so I can hear a little more of what he has to say before I head out into 'the world we live.'
This intriguing subject matter spans back to the past when we first began to use speech which led to thinking which leads to identification to the labels we attached to things which lead to looking at all around us, and we now as the label EQUALS the thing.
What happened to us when this happened? How by understanding all this, the individual can start seeing again, and with feet back on the soil, can walk again.
The 'stuff' Tolle talks about is a subject that hits to the 'heart,' both personal and worldly. He presents this in a delicate, tasteful, and highly intelligent manner which I found even easy to read, sometimes hard to swallow at parts, but wanting read more of this 'stuff.' I call this 'stuff' because I have not come across this type of communication in my near retirement age. It is not 'labelable,' except to describe it as a continuous description of existence in its hopeful, face-able, bare-ass truth.
The result of exposing myself to 'this intelligent 'stuff,' is retrieving my feelings of human value. But, of course, in slaying the dragon, means there exist dragons.
There are no negative aspects that comes to mind.

A New Earth - Very Well Done

Since I liked Eckhart Tolle's The Power of Now, I wanted to continue. In this CD-book, Tolle expands on his ideas from TPN. This is my favorite part about this book-on-CD. Now, I can go back to TPN and get some background on what Tolle means. I consider this a "must-have" if you already have TPN. Also, if TPN is mostly theory A New Earth is where everything is applied. However, I don't want to say to automatically rush out and get The Power of Now. A New Earth does stand on its own. I would recommend listening to all eight CDs of A New Earth before making a purchasing decision for TPN. From A New Earth you will still learn how to re-examine life and be able to stop for a while, meditate, and find support, from Tolle, with slowing down and becoming healthier. I have managed to lower my blood pressure, just by taking an hour or so every few days to listen to the CD!
I was very surprised to find A New Earth at such a low price! That was one of my main reasons for buying this book-on-CD set.
What I love about Tolle is that he does not preach. He cites Christianity many times but also finds counterparts in Zen and Buddha. By not being preachy (like I've heard on so many "motivational" tapes) Tolle is able to get me to see things in a completely different way. There is nothing I dislike about the Cds. I don't consider Tolle a messiah, just a good, sensible human being, asking questions, and making sense out of a non-sensical life.

as a practising catholic, i find the life tools, offered in "a new earth", ground breaking and useable, where nothing else seems to bring one the kind of helpful hints, in dealing with others' pain and dysfunction, and its affect on our lives, not to mention our own personal dilemnas. the cd version is an excellent "re-training" medium, in a most personal way, as it is read by eckhart tolle himself, it gives one the "experience" of helpful learning, almost in a lecture/workshop style . recommended more for the "freer thinker", on all spiritual "ways".

A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle is by far the most profound and enlightening book I've ever read. During my three years in seminary, coupled with seven years in full-time parish ministry, I've read a lot of books, but none so interesting and thought provoking as A New Earth. It has not only deepened my faith in God, but helped me understand that we really are spiritual beings having a human experience....not human beings having a spiritual experience!
This book was also very helpful to me with regard to understanding the ego (Edging God Out) and the many tricks the ego plays on the human mind. I highly recommend this book to anyone seeking to broaden their faith in God, become more conscious in their daily life, gain a more accurate interpretation of key biblical passages, and quiet the ceaseless noise (unconscious thoughts) that preoccupy the "monkey mind" in so many people like myself.
It's clear to me that Eckhart loves Jesus and his teachings. He admitted this much in a video interview I watched. Another attractive aspect of this book is that, regardless of a person's religious affiliation, what he teaches has the potential to only deepen one's faith, that is, as long as the reader engages this book with an open mind!
